Biggest questions that need to be answered on D are ILB and DB (especially CB). Success of the D will depend on whether RDavis, TMarshall and TSmith can get healthy. Are those guys up to the standard of a UGA D when (if?) healthy? It would not surprise to see CKS bring in a TP CB. The TP is a slippery slope. UGA has recruited really well at DB/CB in '21. But are those guys ready to play at the UGA D standard this season? Cherry picking "outsiders" and playing them over recruits seems to have created some unrest at AL.

@UGADad20 Agree, Kirby has his work cut out at those spots, lots of talent, but a lot of talent just went out the door, too.

Experience and reps...name of this game. Talent must be developed.

Good points. We've recruited really well at both CB and ILB over the last two years. Other than Ringo, though, none of those young men have gotten many game reps.

If we don't get some help from transfers, we risk being in a rebuilding rather than reloading posture in those two positions this season. But I don't think there are any CBs in the transfer portal right now who matches what we got in Kendrick. According to ESPN"s Tom VanHaaren, Lejond Cavazos (Ohio State) comes closest among those available, and I don't think anyone presently available would be a difference maker at ILB. There may be some better candidates hitting the transfer pool after spring, but my impression is that this year most players are stating their intentions earlier than last.

So, short of maybe one solid DB transfer to shore up CB while this year's recruits get their sea legs, I doubt we'll get much help from the portal.

The good news is that at ILB, we really do have a mix of talented guys with some experience (Rian, Trezmen) and super-talented guys with less experience (Pop, Xorey, Mondon). The odds that they'll match three guys who'll go straight into being first- or second-round draft picks are pretty slim. But that'd be a ridiculously high standard.
