Kirby Smart: Georgia football prioritizes consistency of championship-level play
ATHENS — Georgia fans who have been around long enough to know that Kirby Smart doesn’t take kindly to football advice and doesn’t always heed conventional wisdom.

I'm not buying the concept of the second one is harder. If you luck up into a national championship, with an 8-4 team - who buys a one and done - generational player - who now makes that team an 14-0 team, then yes, the second one will be harder. The second one will be almost impossible.
I truly believe that Kirby's building his program from the ground up, starting with a solid foundation and building upon that solid foundation. 2021 was not a year where all the stars aligned, and lightning just happened to strike at just the right time. It was not dependent on one special player; it was a total team effort. That doesn't happen by accident.
For Kirby and Georgia, the first one since (1980) was the hardest. Now everybody from the players to the officials believes Georgia not only deserves to be there, but that they're also capable of winning.
It won't take Kirby and Georgia another six years to win another national championship...
Agree… unless things go unexpectedly bad on several fronts, the Dawgs should be in the Natty hunt for the foreseeable future!
Agreed! With the culture that Coach Kirby has installed at UGA and the process the staff undertakes in evaluation, recruiting and talent development, I don't really see the chance of a dropoff going forward.
Too many players coming in, too much talent already here just keeps reloading the depth on this Dawg team!
I like our chances!
Go Dawgs! National Champions (still can't say that enough)! 1942, 1980, 2021 and ????
In Kirby I trust.
(As a coach. He's not God.)
To reload. To give doing it again his best shot. To have his best shot be close enough to the bullseye assuming the ball bounces right. To be in contention even if the ball bounces funny and the refs are inconsistent. To do what he knows has to be done.
It's football. Not rocket science. The path is known but hard to follow.
Go, Dawgs!
1 of top 2 coaches in college football. So thankful that UGA had the foresight and that there was the support to fire Richt and hire Kirby. Although I was against Richt getting fired for anyone other than a top coach at the time, Kirby was the only 1st time head coach I thought would be worth the risk, due to his time under Saban and how great Bama's defenses were with Smart as DC. Smart has exceeded my expectations in about every facet of the program. That just made me think of all of the commenters since he was hired saying he couldn't get the job done and never would. Didn't have it in him, for whatever their reason of the day was. Don't hear that anymore. I also see comments saying Herschel Walker doesn't have a chance to beat Warnock in the upcoming election. How old can these people be or are they just paid to say that stuff or are they just zealots? One thing I know for sure is people were wrong about Kirby and just as wrong or more so about Herschel. Herschel cant lose and it wont be close to close. If there was one, no two, people in the state of GA that were and are any and every politicians worst nightmare, it is Herschel Walker and Vince Dooley. Even all of Soros' money can't stop Herschel from winning in a landslide. Take that to the bank.
