“If you’re going to have a guy be an elite player as a freshman, it’s usually at a skilled position like receiver, running back, or defensive back,” Smart said. “I don’t foresee one of those guys just coming in and dominating.”
So, which is it? Would you expect immediate impact from a position like defensive back, or not? I didn't hear the quote from Smart himself, is there a typo somewhere in there (maybe a "but" missing)? Was it taken out of context or something? The quote on its own doesn't seem to make much sense.

The bad news is that UGA doesn't have much experienced depth in the defensive backfield. Especially at safety until TSmith returns to full speed. Injuries at these positions could be season killers.
The good news is that UGA has very talented depth that is inexperienced. Further good news is that , barring injury, the young players can gain experience (and coaching) in spot duty in numerous winnable games in the first 2 months of the season.
The bad news is that the toughest (possibly) game of the season is game 1 Oregon. The young players will be forced into action.
The ultimate success of of UGA's season may depend on how quickly the young DB's can develop. At least 1 CB and 1 S will need to step up and play a big role this season.
