"young leaders like Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Brock Bowers asserted themselves." BB's leads by example. He sets a great example but I have never seen him assert any leadership verbally on the sideline. What JDJ did ranting on the sideline against a peer for a perceived missed assignment is not leadership. There are better ways to promote accountability.

This team lacks true leaders (as JCarter demonstrated vs MO) . Mostly because they lost much of their leadership last year and they are a young team this year. This team needs more leadership from the coaches.

Not much has been reported about Bryce Young's injury. A sprained shoulder is not that big a deal. A sprained throwing shoulder is a big deal. IF there is no structural damage, I would think it would be a 3 week rehab w/o throwing to hopefully get to the point where you can throw pain free. THEN the throwing muscles need to be strengthened to allow for repeated, hard throwing. Does that means Young is out for a month to ensure he can finish the season? With Young's future in the NFL does he allow AL to shoot him up w/pain killers so he can play? Milroe looks good but this will be interesting to watch play out.

I would argue that Samford, despite the final score, wasn't exactly a dominant performance either.

Now, it may very well be that we'll play at the level of the competition and that we'll get it together, but I fear these are examples of our opponents loading-the-box and such and stopping both our run game as well as preventing Bennett from doing his bread-and-butter short pass types (he's been unable to successfully and reliably throw longer passes).

If this is the case then we MUST adapt. That includes putting in Beck when necessary and combatting anti-runs with "fine, we'll pass deep then".
