Georgia tight end target Walker Lyons commits to USC
One of Georgia’s top targets entering National Signing Day has made a decision. But instead of joining Georgia’s tight end room, Walker Lyons will instead be heading to USC.

Can't win them all. Hope he enjoys his mission work. Pretty sure that there are other TE's that will come our way

No Worries. By the time he's ready to suit up and play who knows what state the USCw program will be in. We may get him afterall, if not best wishes.
The TE room is crowded. There is already a lot for '24 4*TE Landen Thomas to think about. Even more IF 2Rob eventually comes to UGA. Lyons was a good get but would rather have room and PT for in state Landon Thomas. See Lyons went to USC. Should Thomas flip he probably ends up at AL, AU, FL or Clemson. Real recruiting competitors or opponents.
Not so sure about 2Rob. His hesitation to commit today means it is not a done deal. On one hand would love for him to fill the RaRa opening when he is inevitably dismissed (in the probable event of physical contact). He could definitely take game reps at WR in yr 1 and fill the BB's role in yr 2.
On the other hand, if there is 1 thing we've learned about UGA football, is that CKS demands 100% commitment to team (first?) and football. This young man is not 100% committed to CFB. He has a lot of people in his ear and a lot of distractions.
UGA WAS able to carry AGilbert for 2 seasons while he worked on becoming a better CFB player. UGA could do the same with 2Rob. Word is he will be drafted. Minor league baseball vs NIL? Football training vs baseball season? 2Rob will have a lot to think about.
Though it may all be decided the 1st time the kid sees a curveball from a good college pitcher.
Actually, I think that's pretty predictable as long as Riley is there - Heisman winning quarterback, and playoff afterthought.
