- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Three early takeaways on Georgia football’s top-ranked 2024 recruiting class
The biggest addition to a Georgia recruiting class on National Signing Day didn’t come for the 2023 signing class, but rather the 2024 cycle. Ellis Robinson, the No. 7 overall player in the cycle and the top-ranked cornerback prospect, announced his commitment to Georgia over the likes of Alabama, LSU and Miami.

Strange. Looking at the 2024 list, unless someone has a bonkers high school senior season this will be another year with no truly elite in-state QB prospects. The days when Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields would be in the same class - and prior to that a string of consensus 5 star QBs nearly every year that included Cam Newton, Blake Sims, Nick Marshall, Deshaun Watson - seems to be over. The peach state has only produced one consensus big time QB recruit since the Lawrence/Fields year: Brock Vandagriff.
Of course Georgia - and before then Alabama as all of their QBs who actually won titles (McElroy, McCarron, Coker, Hurts, Tua) were 3 and 4 star guys and only Tua, who technically wasn't credited with the 2017 title victory as Hurts started the game, had a 6 rating on Rivals - has proven that you don't need blue chip QB recruits to win titles. Still, it was a great era to see Georgia compete with California, Texas and Florida in producing QBs that impacted the sport. I was watching Jacksonville play Tennessee for the AFC South division title and both starting QBs (Trevor Lawrence, Josh Dobbs) were rather recent Georgia high school products, as was the Tennessee backup (Malik Willis). That was neat to see. Instead, this draft is going to be California guys again (Bryce Young, CJ Stroud) and no Georgia high school products are rated highly for the 2024 draft either.
On Rival250 4*players range from 5.8 - 6.0 . So 6.0 is the highest rated 4* players. A player rated 6.1 is a 5* player. Since Rivals typically has a 30 5* players a 6.0 player could be pushing the Top 30 players .......in the country. Doesn't get much more "Blue Chip" than Tua's 6.0 rating. And technically, since there are only typically 30 Rivals 5* players in any year, that means at least 20 states go w/o a 5*QB (or ANY 5* player) every year.
Personally I disagree with the Rivals rating system. Rivals does not rank high school football players from #1 to #250. Rivals rates players based on their NFL draft potential. Hence, there were no 5* RB's in Rivals '23 rankings. Tua's size probably kept him from being a 5*.
Now what is really interesting is that, according to CR and player rankings, '24 is a premium year for in-state GA recruits. Yet 6 of the 10 UGA commits are from outside the State of GA. UGA should be loading up on in state players this year. So far the limited, valuable slots are going to lower rated out of state players.
Based on crystal ball predictions and skuttlebutt, Clem's son are beside themselves thinking they're going to clean up in GA this year. Mathews, Bolden, Brown and Brown-Shuler have already taken multiple visits to Clempson including junior day.
Hopefully UGA can turn the recruiting machine back into an in state recruiting machine for this special class of '24.
Check this out: On3's "Prediction Machine" gives UGA the highest or second best odds for seven out of the 13 highest ranked players (I'm including ERIV in those seven). We're almost certainly not going to get all seven of those guys, but it's pretty impressive to be in the running. To @UGADad20's point: four of those seven guys are from Georgia.
