Closer look: Digging into ESPN ranking Georgia offense higher in 2023 preseason than last year
ATHENS — What if someone told you this season’s Georgia offense has higher expectations that last year’s did?
Comments
Georgia’s slate is
conducive
to the team growing, as the Bulldogs open with home games against UT-Martin, Ball State, South Carolina and UAB.The Sept. 30 road game at Auburn figures to be the first true challenge.
It is a potentially favorable schedule but South Carolina is always a true challenge.
Go, Dawgs!
If this team doesn't win the SEC this year it will be a disappointment. The defense should be better at LB and in the backend. The DL should be about the same (remember JC was out as was Nolan for multiple games).
The offense should be more dynamic with our WR corps and we still have Brock Bowers. I also think that Washington's contributions were a bit overrated as he was unavailable for multiple games. We will roll and the only thing that can mess us up is ourselves.
Only Ohio State or LSU can beat us this year. No one else stands a chance even on a bad day. We are just that much better imo.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t overlook South Carolina. Rattler finished last year strong and Beamer has also improved as a coach.
lest not we forgot what happened a couple years ago when the gamecocks strutted out of Athens with an upset.
I believe the dawgs will be capable of frying some chicken, but caution is best until it’s not.
South Carolina Is no slouch. They will be a very good test for us. And, Auburn at home with it new coach, we'll see.
I'm terrified of the TN-Martin game. They are big, fast, hungry and really want to prove themselves. I just pray we can get the victory. Signed Vince Dooley
Our only real offensive question is at X receiver. RaRa, Rosemy-Jacksaint and Dillon Bell aren't equal to AD Mitchell, who IMO was our best '22 WR when healthy. Bell gets the least attention but he way overperformed expectations last year and by all accounts continues to improve. Plus, unlike RaRa & Rosemy-Jacksaint, he hasn't had off-field issues.
But that's a pretty small question to have when you consider all the talent at other positions. Even where the coaches may not settled on a starter (LT, QB, WR-Y & WR-Z) , it's only because we have an embarrassment of riches.
Neither Greene nor Blaske will equal Jones. We may have a drop off at QB; but probably not much of one. We're actually loaded at RB, even though we don't have an RB who's as natural a receiver as Cook or McIntosh.
In eight or nine starting positions, we either have the same guy coming back with one more year of experience (C, RG, LG, TE, WR-Z) or will have a guy with higher upside replacing last year's starter (RT, WR-Y, possibly QB). That means we should get better than a team that scored 40 points a game at eight or nine positions!
Plus, overall the bench looks slightly stronger than last year's (LG and RT being exceptions).
The only reason we wouldn't score 40-plus is if the guys can't get motivated against subpar competition.
"Rattler finished last year strong and Beamer has also improved as a coach."
Don't disagree that Rattler and Coach Beamer looked better towards the end of the year.......
But, part of that is because they had already played us!!
Go Daws!
OMG.... true flashbacks there ...remembering Larry and Coach Dooley talking about the next game and poor-mouthing with the best of them!!
"We really have to watch out for their long snappuh....Larry!"
Go Dawgs!
