Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I take it this is a very religious young man and his faithis very important to him. I think Dabo is a very religious guy too. MAybe more kindred spirits than he and Kirby. A Connor said, Swinney and Smart operate differently. Read between the lines.
"Georgia and Clemson are two of the elite programs in the country."......that was true prior to 2021. As of 2023, Clemson is an elite program in the ACC. Just hoping The DAWGS get to play the Tigers in the next three years and we'll see how our "misses" faired.
Swinney's recruiting "niche" is that he plays the faith card. I am sure he is a faithful man but he "uses" that niche as his "in" with recruits and their families. He "works" it way harder than any other coach. Unfortunately for Dabo (and in general) , most recruits are now prioritizing the money of NIL over everything else. Probably 1 reason Clemson's recruiting has slipped in the last few years.
My understanding is that Clemson has one OV recruiting weekend. It is the 1st weekend in June . IF you want an OV from Clemson, you have to go the 1st weekend in June. That is why so many UGA targets were at Clemson last week. UGA OV's are more flexible.
I do think it is short sighted to NOT prioritize the State of GA recruiting over everywhere else. Sure UGA can recruit nationally and find players that can be developed and will play well. But winning recruiting in GA has advantages. The State of GA is a top 3 state at producing HS football talent. 1) it builds consistent good faith with the state's HS football coaches. 2) that good faith helps to solidify the pipeline of GA talent to UGA. and 3) (most importantly?) native Georgian players have a built in bond with their home state. That means they will more likely be more patient going through the development process that results in starting and getting drafted. SWashington and BAlexander are 2 recent examples of out of state guys that didn't have the patience. Had they been in state guys, with their families, homes and friends relatively local, they may not have been in such a rush to move on.
Sammy Brown is a perfect example of what happens when UGA misses a top GA recruit. (GA's #1 prospect MMathews is forecasted to be committing to TN) When UGA misses a national recruit from say TX or CA, those guys usually go to a TX or west coast team. When UGA misses on a top GA prospect they usually go to AL, Clemson, FU or TN. The Clemson program (future SEC program) is built on the back of GA prospects. AL, TN, FU are teams UGA has to beat to win the SEC. There is more direct value in closing on more State of GA HS recruits.
