It’s set up so prosecutors have all the power. They pick the charges and the punishments and negotiate the plea. A LOT of innocent people take the plea because they are scared.
absolutely. A lot of people just can’t afford the time it would take to go to trial so they take some lesser charge to avoid prison and get probation with some community service so they don’t lose their job
