BREAKING: 5-star LB Demarcus Riddick flips his commitment from Georgia football to Auburn
Demarcus Riddick made a decision last November to commit to the G. He made a decision on Wednesday afternoon to walk back that choice.

Until you see them on the field you can't count on these kids playing. These days commitments are no guarantee.
I’m okay with this. We want kids 100% dedicated to the G. He may turn out to be a great player and go onto great things, but Auburn is no producer of LB’s like UGA has been in recent years. Best of luck to the young man but I look forward to going against him on the field now.
I wish this young man well, I'm thinking he has never heard of Owen Pappoe....spurned The Dawgs for the Tigers, War Eagles, Plainsmen etc, had an OK career on a losing team but hey, Owen was drafted.....no, not first or second round but 6th round. How can these young men fail to see that having been part of the Georgia program, IMO, is worth at least a 2 round advancement provided you progress and improve and see playing time....apparently extensive playing time/starts have no influence to NFL teams when it comes to UGA.
Am I weird for enjoying this? As the article essentially points out, this was the worst kept secret in at least the last several recruiting cycles, and our coaches have already landed a higher rated linebacker. So there isn't really any sting behind it. I think just about everyone assumed he was going to Bama, but no! We don't even have to worry about playing against him on one of the nation's top teams. He's off to be part of a rebuild at a program that Georgia has owned for the last 15+ years. And as a nice little bonus, the Gumps don't get to thump their chests about it. At this point, it's arguably a bigger loss for them than for us. It would have been great to keep him on board, but realistically, this feels like more good news.
There were times during the pre- Kirby era that losing any five star commitment would have been devastating. Now, it’s not exactly oh-well-so-what, but it’s close. In the long term, it’s going to be a much bigger blow to the young man and his development that what it will be for the Dawgs.
Another Owen Pappoe
Adios, Muchacho.
I'm excited to see who we get to replace him. Whoever it is will have an excellent chance to be developed into a NFL calibre player.
If a player is in any way draftable...Kirby Smart will get him drafted. Through physical and mental conditioning, top notch CBT/multimedia training,, personalized coaching and development, tutoring, medical/trainer facilties......but, above all..."Kirby Smart & The Dawgs"'s many NFL connections and superior reputation based on recent drafts.
Auburn can't compete with that, right now...which tells me...unless this young man is mentally challenged, his decision was probably based in part on the LBs the Dawgs signed in '23 and Justin Williams recent commitment. He saw the writing on the wall and decided not to go the "Tindall Route".
The current bipartisan (NIL/TP/NCAA/FTC) "PASS ACT" Legislation being introduced to Congessional committee for consideration, may also have something to do with it. It's the third such piece of Legislation submitted this year. But considering the 2 Senator's that are sponsoring the Bill...this one may pass. The only question is...When?.
In fact...the PASS Act (etal.) may bare heavy on a lot of "decisions", going forward. For instance...Riddick's original plan, may have been, to give UGA a try. If it didn't work out, he could always transfer out of Athens. Also, the NIL front money at Auburn was probably higher...meaning he would already have money in hand, BEFORE the PASS Act went into effect.
It's the little things and unspoken words hidden between the lines, that tell me...We're in for another seismic shift in the CFB landscape.
A lot worse things in life can happen to you then being drafted in the 3rd round...
Tindall Route means 3rd round and still a multi-millionaire...not bad
Yep...and he earned it. IMO
But, the route he took, takes patience, confidence, hard work and determination. Some guys don't carry all those genes. My guess is...he would've transferred out, anyway.
All this talk from Kirby about UGA's DNA...and "hard work", "best man plays", "player led program", "commitment & connection"...etc...may be having the desired effect. Weed em out from the get-go with talk that scares "the lazy & hard-headed" and wards off wasted coaching time.
I kind of wonder what would have happened there...IF...Jermaine Johnson had not transferred before the 2021 season. Would he have still been drafted in the 1st round and Tindall in the 3rd? I don't know...maybe. It would've depended on whether Johnson earned more playing time in '21...limiting Tindall's exposure.
Due to UGA's deep front-7 talent, in 2021...maybe Tindall has to return for another year to get drafted, cause his exposure in 2021 would have been much more limited. IMO
Hard to say but look at Jermaine Burton at Bama last year. If he had stayed at Georgia he would of been the premiere guy and I think drafted in 2-3 round this year. Instead, he had a decent year at Bama but nothing like what he thought he would have. For Burton he should of stayed.
I'll never understand Burton's logic in transferring. Something had to have been going on, that we didn't...and may never know about.
Sounds like Mr Riddick will fit right in at Auburn...
My thought exactly.
Maybe he saw the handwriting on the wall . . . too much top quality competition.
