Georgia football has ended the last two seasons as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. For the first time in the Kirby Smart era, the Bulldogs will open the season as the No. 1 team in the Coaches Poll.

First big upset of the 2023 season, Texas over Bama. LSU will have defeated Florida ST placing them in the drivers seat in the SEC west.
We all know that Ohio State's whiny coach Day voted for his own team to be number one. Pitiful...
I am salivating at this poll just from the fact that next season - 2024 - if you take the Top 25 teams on this poll there will be MULTIPLE times during the season that the top teams will be playing each other during the regular season. You can thank all this conference realignment for that and getting rid of divisions. Probably at least 3 times as many games involving top matchups.
LSU vs USC - Yep...Penn State vs Washington - Yep. Texas vs UGA - Yep...and the list goes on and on.
How SWEET is that!!
P.S. Other thoughts on realignment...All this extra money that the (2) conferences' teams are going to get by adding more geographically undesirable teams is simply going to be spent on all the travel, lodging, and meals expense for both the new B1G and Big12.
I means millions more across all the sports are going to eat up a lot of cash. And yes, it's going to take a toll on the athletes and staff the further you go in the season and post season.
The little details they didn't think about before this latest money grab...hopefully Sankey sticks at 16 and keeps the league mostly geographically sensical.
I can't argue much with that Coaches' Poll. I just hope we don't swallow the rat poison.
It must be the proven commodities at quarterback for alabama and ohio state that earned them the number one votes.
LSU goes 8-4
