Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Sad day for Parrot Heads the world over. I'm not a member but know quite a few and they do much for the communities that they live in. Jimmy was one of the good guys. I'm sure there will be more than a few Monster Margaritas lifted in his memory today.
Rest in peace Mr. Buffett. Condolences to your family.
I saw Jimmy Buffet in concert as a student at UGA in the late ‘70’s…..had never been “high” before or since, but the cloud of “smoke” in Stegeman was intoxicating!
Rest in Peace, sir, you will be well-remembered!
His music has always been a "fit" for me - I think because it so relaxed and I ain't. My favorite is A Pirate Looks At 40. Before I turned 40 it had special meaning. Now, I hear it and think what in the world is going on.
Wore out the B side of A1A album on my old girard turntable back in the day. If you haven't heard, I still highly recommend.
agree.
That song and "He Went to Paris" are my favorites, as they match with my penchant for introspection, though I am not nearly as interesting as either of those songs' subjects. 😂
Jimmy's been a part of my life for 38 years.
Heard the news 1st thing this morning and had a good cry. Sure to have another good cry tonight after the rum starts flowing and BuffettTunes are cranking after the game!
RiP Jimmy
I bet those cheeseburgers are good in paradise. RIP
And, yet, you are the most likely to write a book on unwritten rules. Don't be so hard on yourself!!
I saw Jimmy play at the Great Southeast music hall and Lakewood long ago, but my favorite memory was in Athens. I was going on my first deer hunt the next day with a guy I tended bar with in Atlanta. We stopped at I think Smokes ?? where his brother tended bar to pick him up and head to their property. I'm sitting at the table with the 4 other guys in our party and I hear this voice that seems familiar right behind me at the next table. I turned around and lo and behold it's Jimmy Buffett! He was very gracious, wish we had cell phones then! RIP Jimmy I will be having a margarita later in your honor.
Me too…saw him in Dallas for the first time in 1981, been hooked since. I rarely cry, but will say I shed a tear this AM when I heard; it seems I’ve pursued the Margaritaville lifestyle ever since that concert, and now the ultimate example has passed!
I love the songs both @donniem and @CigarDawg mentioned, but immediately went to “Growing Older but Not Up” and the line “I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead” when I heard the news. JB certainly personified that premise, I hope I can do the same.
RIP Jimmy Buffet…my prayers and condolences are with the Buffet family and Parrothead Nation.
Jimmy Buffett was one of my favorite musicians and celebrities of all time. Rest in peace, Jimmy… I will miss you. 🥲
We saw him a few years back in Miami. He and the Coral Reefer Band led off for the Eagles......great show!
Buffet looked like he was still having a lot of fun!
some of its magic, some of its tragic, but he had a good life all the way.
Saw him live on Hilton Head in 1990 at the high school stadium. Only time I’ve ever sat up close at a concert (third row).
Fair winds, following seas, and a safe arrival at that one particular harbor…
True story: I was on the island of Anguilla in 1994, celebrating my 30th birthday with a Windjammer Barefoot cruise on the 4-master Polynesia, when this random dude walks up and says very seriously, “You know, one of these days the Parrotheads are gonna rule the world.”

Sweet!!!
Bound to be some Dawgs who love boats as much as they love Buffett and he loved boats. So thought I'd post this write up on the 42 Freeman w/a custom Pilot House fab'd by Merritt Boatworks he commssioned.
Son of a son of a Sailor, what a machine...
Apparently, JB had a case of 12 foot-itis and had a 56 Freeman in the works, as well.
All said, even if you don't like boats, it's a great read about how Buffett related to and treated the people in his world, further enhancing what a terrific person JB was.
