Everything Kirby Smart said as Georgia football begins Vanderbilt week
ATHENS — Georgia heads back out on the road this week as the Bulldogs take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.

It's interesting what Kirby said about the edge and containment. He uses the outside LB/Edge to clog the middle and depends on the ILBs to chase down the outside run. I noticed last year that the outside LB/Edge was consistently sliding inside to crash down the line on the inside run or play fake. That's not what I was taught as an outside LB; quite the opposite, and I started watching other teams to see if that was the trend. It is a UGA thing, and I knew it had to be coached into the players because they were doing it constantly. It's an interesting philosophy that his speed at inside LB and safety will fill the edge. However, it has cost them this year when the QB gets around the edge or the CB misses a tackle.
Kirby keeping the main thing the main thing!
Thanks Connor!
