All the best regular season MLB playoff teams, had the long layoff, had 5 games series' and lost. Going to lay them off for that long, better AT LEAST, give them a 7 game series to HOPE to shake the rust off and get the bats going and back to their best form. Maybe get it back.

There is not close to that long of a layoff ALL season and you sit the best teams, while the others keep on playing and are ready to rumble, while the best teams have to get the oil back running through the entire machine...MUCH easier said then done! VERY hard to just flip a BUNCH of switches and its automatically going to be everyone is as sharp as they were when playing daily, like the Phillies and D'backs. Getting the best performances from the players is very unlikely.

So, my 2 cents? Short to no layoffs. Sure, one of the best may lose to one of the lowest seeds in the 1st round, but at least they weren't rusty when it happens and look at what happens, they all lost anyway! Now the final rounds are lacking what are most likely the best teams and are lackluster and the best team probably is not going to win and I am not going to watch.
