With Kirby's eye and UGA's coaches abilities to elevate players, there always seems to be one of the less heralded freshmen that steps up. Sure Ellis and KJ will have their chance at snaps, but who will the more surprising guy in 2024 that comes forward.

Like to see those D lineman grow up quickly - that's the need.

I'm excited about phillips. Just needs about 10-15 lbs to help take the tackling of the SEC and I think he'll turn heads. Has great speed for a RB.

This freshman roster looks like a Who's Who of college football talent! Kirby and company outdid themselves this cycle. So many to choose from. I am amped for this season and beyond. Bring on the spring Georgia game. I hang on Kirby's ubiquitous word...."development."

The new age of NIL and the TP has been a bit of a setback for UGA in terms of retention and development. NIL has also been a setback in terms of recruitment as we have seen with most of the top State of GA HS players going elsewhere.

It is true that some players hit the TP as part of CKS's grand plan. Many players that hadn't developed were recruited over and were sliding down the depth chart.. Guys like MJ Sherman, Nyland Green and a handful of OL and WR's. It was in their and the teams best interest to transfer.

But UGA also lost guys that were expected to be developed into mature contributors this season. Guys like Marvin Jones, Bear Alexander and AJ Harris.

Relying on too many freshmen is not a formula for winning championships. The good news for UGA is that the TP has facilitated a redistribution of talent for most teams. This puts UGA at about the same talent level as the other elite teams leveling the playing field.

The biggest advantage to have at the CFB level is quality and experience at the QB position. That bodes well for UGA in the coming season's chase for the championship.
