Kirby Smart releases official statement on coaching changes, Scott Cochran
ATHENS — Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has released a statement regarding changes to the Georgia football coaching staff.

All very reasonable moves and with some great additions,
Was this the only statement made by Kirby? “I want to thank Scott and Darrell for their contributions to Georgia football. We wish them all the best moving forward,” Smart said. That really isn’t clarifying regarding the change. Not a big deal but not sure what drove this, particularly the Dickey move.
I just want another Monster in the weight room, getting these guys ready for football come August.
Amen, Amen, Amen Woodrow, as I posted this is the most important time for our continued dominance.....it is quite literally the start of the race....having an inspirationally motivating coach in the weight room,......strength and conditioning is the best insurance against injury and as I've stated before, injury is the ONLY dimension that could could defeat us in 24......in my day it was Erk and Coach Mike among others, .....Coach Cochran will be missed......we need "inspirational motivation"!
Was Cochran even active with the team? We barely heard anything of him.
Wish Both Coaches the best as long as it’s not against our Dawgs. It’s to early for me to tell if their leaving is a negative for UGA, it could be but then it could be that whoever replaces them is a move up. We shall see. Go Dawgs !!
THAT [injuries]....may have been the overriding issue with Cochran. Ever since he and Gilbert had to "step away" from football, in 2021....there have been injuries all over the field.
And....UGA's Special Teams...even with all the talent used...hasn't been able to produce big-time "returns" on punts or kickoffs. They've been above average, just because of the quality of personnel....but, they should've been much better at creating chaos and points.
I was beginning to wonder, if Cochran wasn't a Saban "plant". Sabotaging UGA's Conditioning program and feeding him intel....as payback for costing him [Saban] a Natty [2015-16...the year Kirby accepted the UGA job, a month before the CFP].
I think, that was Saban's perception...."that Kirby didn't focus on beating Ohio State, while he was recruiting guys on the West Coast [Eason] for UGA". I could tell, it bothered him. Lol
In 2024....UGA is gonna have their best team ever, IMO. All the coaching changes I've seen this offseason are upgrades and part of Kirby's "Better Never Rests Philosophy".
He's always working to improve personnel on the field and in the office. UGA's trajectory is still headed upward. As long as Kirby is in Athens....that will probably be the case. The Lord only, knows how far upward they will go, but, I love it. An honest and "real" search for perfection that may not end in our lifetimes....[well....my lifetime, anyway...Lol].
If somebody in the organization gets stale or complacent...replace em with a fresh mind. It's nothing personal....just business. With the intensity and itinerary in CFB, today....[and, the high stakes and money involved]....it's hard to imagine anybody being able to "maintain", longer than 5 or 10 years. Your personal & family life suffers greatly.
Kirby may be implementing something the military used for decades. Rotational duties. Sea Tour....Shore Tour. Deployment....then, home for a year or two, to refresh. In other words....we may not have seen the last of Cochran or Muschamp on the practice field.
Time for those guys to recharge their batteries and tend to their family....just like Matt Luke and Todd Monkin. The older guys have it the hardest....cause, they've been doing it longer. Just ask Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. Lol
IMO....That's what makes Kirby and Saban's accomplishments....in this CFB environment....so special. Not many people have the discipline and focus, to "maintain" greatness, the way they have....for as long as they have. Urban Meyer couldn't do it. Neither, could Pete Carroll or Bobby Bowden or Jimbo Fisher....or Jimmy Johnson. Well.....Jimmy came pretty close. Lol. There aren't many, though.
I think the "secret", lies in the way Kirby "delegates" and distributes responsibilities. It frees him up, to Coach and Sell UGA....but, it also keeps him fresh and allows him to manage proactively. For that strategy to be effective....you need to hire competent, reliable, energetic....hungry "people" willing to "eat off the floor" for a few years.
