Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Brock Bowers, Amarius Mims share future plans after being sidelined at Georgia football pro day
ATHENS — Brock Bowers can’t wait to just focus on football again.

This “he only has 8 starts” is just completely misleading, not to mention aggravating. He played many snaps in 2022 as the Dawgs played 7-8 O linemen every game. I don’t know exactly how many snaps he had, but that number is way more relevant than how many games he was in on the first offensive play of the game. Of course, with cut and paste taking the place of actually writing these days I’m pretty sure we will continue to see this sentence over and over: “Mims has only eight starts during his Georgia career, something that both the offensive tackle and Smart see as an overblown narrative.” PLEASE!!
Mims is probably the highest ranked OL prospect ever to play at UGA. Barring injury, Mims will play a long time in the NFL and eventually develop into a Pro Bowl level player.
The point of "only 8 starts" is that Mims has a lot more development to do to reach his (high) ceiling. He is not there yet and he is not near being ready to compete at that level in the NFL yet. It took Andrew Thomas multiple years starting at UGA AND at the NFL level to become a proficient NFL OT.
So w/ Mims the sky is the limit. But to expect him to hit the ground running at the next level is not realistic. Not as realistic as it is to expect SVPG to hit the ground running at the NFL level after 44 starts at UGA. With the tight salary cap on the NFL, #1 draft choices are heavily invested in and expected to start almost immediately at the NFL level. There is no substitute for experience. Mims will need to grow up fast.
