ATHENS — There are several different linebacker positions on the Georgia defense. There’s Money and Mac for inside or middle linebackers. There’s also Sam and Jack, which are spots occupied by outside linebackers.

If UGA is to make a deep run in the '24 playoffs JWalker will need to be a big part of it. He looks to be the perfect fit to replace JDJ at ILB. Bring some "Pop" back to ILB (in more ways than 1).
UGA coaches missed the ball last season playing JW at OLB. Resulted in UGA being soft up the middle after JDJ got hurt. JW's presence as an interior run stuffer (and blitzer) would have made a bigger impact than as a sometime OLB/pass rusher.
As for JDJ, according to PFF, he is a Top 10 returning LB in CFB. No UGA LB's made the list. "Since 2022, his 80.2 PFF run defense grade leads all SEC LB's. He is 5th in that same group with a 24.2%pressure rate".
UGA badly needs someone to step up to fill those shoes or it will be more of what we saw last year after JDJ was hurt. UGA needs a thumper in the middle. Speed means nothing when the OL is bearing down on you and you have to take on the block, shed and make a tackle. JWalker is a key player this season.
