- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Kirby Smart shares how he would fix the transfer portal for college football
With how often Kirby Smart has been asked about NIL and the transfer portal this offseason, he’s had plenty of time to practice his answers.

Dabo won’t adapt to the portal, that may be part of why his success has gone down. Adapt and Reload, Smart has it down!
Dabo is an idiot for not using the Transfer Portal again. I love Kirby's idea. Kids need to have some stability instead of basically being free agents every year.
Could not have said it better JTM22.
I kinda like Kirby's 2-year idea, but unfortunately the courts have already decided that you can't restrict players from changing schools and playing immediately. And the idea of actually getting an education as part of this? HA! That's hardly ever brought up any longer but it certainly is valid!
I agree with Kirby's philosophy on the transfer portal and wish there was a way to enforce it, but making a player agree to stay two years is akin to having them sign a contract. The schools and the NCAA want to avoid getting into that because the players would become school employees with all the rights (compensation, benefits) and privileges the law allows. Currently, the NIL system provides for independent third-party compensation and doesn't bind the school. I'm afraid the transfer portal and expanded playoffs will kill college football as we know it, similar to what has happened with college basketball. We have taken a system of college football, which was about fanaticism and pageantry, and turned it into a system made to produce super programs that can make tens of millions and compete for championships. It was a regionalized sport about cheering for your school and beating your rival. Change is inevitable, so we'll have to adjust, but I don't know if it'll be better.
I know that what you say is true but then how is the SEC able to prevent a kid from transferring within the conference after a certain date? It would seem as if a player comes out of Spring practice at UGA and he's 3rd string, why can't he move on to Florida or Texas A&M or wherever, and play the following fall? Oh, I know the SEC has a rule against that, but seems to me the kid could go to court and successfully fight it. If the courts are saying you can't restrict a kid from transferring when and where he wants to, then how can the SEC make their rule stick? I feel like that sooner or later (probably sooner), some kid is going to challenge it in court. And he'll win. Because the kids ALWAYS WIN these days.
