go DAWGS! The friendly confines of Foley should bode much better than the cavernous Hoover facility. Need the pitching and defense to step up as long as the offense stays hot. Great season regardless. Excited to see years 2&3 for Johnson. Go DAWGS.

Jack, I always enjoy your articles. Thank you.

Suggestion for you. As the Dawgs might be headed back to the CWS, how about a story on the 1987 (my UGA graduation year) and the 1990 CWS National Championship years? Those were exciting times to be a fan of the Diamond Dawgs and Foley Field and Kudzu Hill were lit!

Derek Lilliquist was a great pitcher/1st baseman/hitter and an All-American. Cris Carpenter was an excellent closer in baseball and also the punter on the football team. He was great at both. Lil and Carpenter were drafted in the MLB 1st round. They obviously had many others to get them to these two CWS, they are the two I remember most.
