8-5 isn't inches short. UGA made great progress this year so will be fun watching the next few years unfold under Johnson. Unfortunately close doesn't count, but kudos to the Dawgs for hanging in there and providing some excitement.
Even though the season ended in disappointing fashion, every Georgia fan should be extremely proud of this team. Picked to finish in the middle of the conference, they overachieved to not only make the playoffs, but host 2 rounds in the playoffs. If Wes can get some better pitching and keep the offense going, this team’s future is going to be awesome. Go Dawgs!
The have time now to fix the outfield scoreboard after State pummeled it with HR's
good effort. Maybe we can add a few quality pitchers and contend again next year
Great Season!! They far exceeded my expectations for "improvement", with offensive firepower up & down the lineup....just like the Braves, coincidentally. Mirror images of each other.
IMO...Johnson did the only thing he could do. Bring in some reliable bat's, and build an offense, capable of protecting a "pitch-by-committee" approach. It's easier to build a lineup than a bullpen, IMO.
I think Johnson did a masterful job of reviving a dead Bulldog Baseball program, with one year and not much to work with. Can't wait to see what Mike White has in store for b-ball fans.
This year's team...truly is, the "Diamond Dawgs". Go get em boys. Phelps will take you the rest of the way, next year.
One thing I know for sure...nobody has to tell Johnson what he needs to win in the postseason. He knows...and, I'll bet, he started working on it, the minute before he got the UGA HC position. Lol. It takes longer than a season, to build a solid rotation and bullpen....even in the days of NIL.
