There is no doubt that the S position is thin this season at UGA. I was never sold on DDS. This was his 3rd or 4th year on campus and he never grew into anything more than a (small) role player. He struggled mightily in pass protection. Always seeming to be out of position. That is a deal breaker for a S.

Not hard to imagine that KJ would surpass MOST of the other S's on the depth chart by opening day. He needs to now more than ever. 17 has experience but is not a Sunday player. He is oft injured and limited in what he brings. 8 lacks experience but may be a good CFB player in time. If he can stay healthy. 20 has been on campus 2 full years and has yet to show he can play at the CFB level. 22 seems like a less experienced version of 17. 9, 27, 31 are all young and unproven players.

There are questions all over the secondary after #24. Bolden will be needed almost immediately to solidify the back end. Barring exponential improvement in the pass rush, UGA will go as far this year as the young secondary's development takes it. With all the unproven youth/depth in the secondary frontline players will have to remain healthy.

KJ needs a Starks type freshman season for this D to be championship level.

Pass rush and rushing defense will have to be much better, period, if we're going to play for NC. THe defense didn't play bad against MIlroe, we just weren't great. Michigan's defense was stout and made itself known early and often against him , and that was the difference.
