Just when you thought that it was the dumbest, most insulting ceremony ever….
Olympic Flag Accidentally Flown Upside Down at Opening Ceremony
Meh. This is a misinterpretation.
The Germans were destroying EVERYONE in WWII. Not just the French. The British were routed and had to leave quickly from Dunkirk.
The whole the French dont want to fight thing is pretty ridiculous. Especially considering without a ton of help from them we wouldnt have won our independence.
If you look over history the French have been more than capable of fighting and winning.
yeah France overestimated the Maginot line and didn’t expect the Germans to just walk around it through the low country forests
Bingo.
Christianity is not really a Religion in America anymore. Its a political party. Once Religions get involved with politics the politics takes over pretty quickly.
Sad to see. Ill be glad when they get back to actually reading the Bible and following the teaching of Jesus. Right now that isnt at all what they are doing.
Nobody said the flag was offensive, just another messed-up part of a ceremony that was marked with absurdity. Even without the parts that were offensive to many it was just a weird show. Based on everything else that happened, kind of makes you wonder if flying the flag upside down was intentional. It was clear the intention of the producer was to be controversial. Yeah, publicly they said it was meant to unify….but come on…does anyone really believe that?
I think it’s manufactured drama during election season in America
Think of all the real problems in the world. Real ones with serious consequences. Wars etc.
And this is the focus. That the French made the Olympics games they are hosting French.
In art, this motif was not unique to that painting. As YaleDawg posted, you can see a similar banquet theme there, as well as many other paintings that you can see in places like the Louvre. I obviously cannot read the minds of the creators, so there could have been an intentional jab at Christianity, but I don't think we have to start from that perspective. There are plenty of other things about France to offend us already.
What's truly amazing is that the disciples had the foresight to sit on the same aside of the table so they would all fit into the painting 1500 years later. 😁
There are plenty of other things about France to offend us already.
Would be curious what those are. Remember Freedom Fries? That was when the French thought maybe it wasn't such a good idea to invade Iraq.
Turns out they were right.
I was just being a smart-alec. I found Paris to be a wonderful city the one time I was there. We did notice that the French in the countryside were more welcoming than Parisians but I assume that is just like any other big city dynamic.
You do realize that it's not just Americans who are offended, right?
oh yeah Parisians are rude
I haven’t seen it no.
