Georgia could very well have the best offensive line in the country this coming season. The Bulldogs bring back four starters from the 63-3 win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl and the group has regularly been a finalist for the Joe Moore Award.

Everybody knows O-line and D-line wins championships. Other positions get most of the glory but the big horses up front make it all possible. Hope for depth and good health on both sides of the ball and we should do well.

I hope Matt Miller is right. While Fairchild has a high ceiling, nothing in his game play last season would indicate such lofty praise. The best OG in the country? He is not the best returning OG on his own team. He may not even start.

In the games I saw him play (all of them) I thought the bigger player, Morris, was the more typically skilled and higher ceiling UGA IOL. It seemed Fairchild struggled with size and strength in his face. A lot like Warren Ericson from a few years ago.

The good news is that UGA has 3 starting caliber OG's and 3 starting caliber OT's. Still need to find OC2 and develop depth behind the 3 OG's and 3 OT's. Should another OT emerge, Truss could move back to OG in the event of an injury.

There is one all powerful motivating factor for Fairchild, Morris, Freeling, et al……it's the 12-13 Freshman Human Mountains fighting to just get a few game snaps…. Our starting rotation is in good stead and save injuries it will be tough for the OL Beast to get looks…..but maybe???

I thought Fairchild played well toward the end of last year. But I’m surprised that he’s ranked ahead of Ratledge, who never seems to get his due from the national press. He was an absolute bulldozer in some big games in 2023. Either way the IOL will be outstanding this year, and the fact that we have so much depth there makes me think that in addition to being explosive, we’ll have the kind of offense that will be able to wear opposing defenses down.

Can't see anyone taking Tate Ratledge's job from him. He played **** good football last year, especially as the season went forward.

    Micah Morris:

“We just want to get each other better. Pushing each other to be better all the time,” Morris said this spring. “At the end of the day, that’s my brother. We’ve been through a lot together. All the practices, runs, stuff like that. It’s definitely something great. Because whenever there are two solid players like me and Dylan just getting each other better, it’s making the team better and that’s the goal.”

Now THIS is a HUGE indicator of the Coach Kirby culture at its finest! Micah Morris…. a DGD!!!!

    Go Dawgs!
