ATHENS — Wide receiver wasn’t expected to be a position of worry for the Bulldogs during fall camp. Sure, Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint had to be replaced, but the Bulldogs brought in three wide receivers via the transfer portal, two freshman wide receivers and saw a number of contributors return from last season’s team.

Arian Smith is uncoverable but has way to many drops. Catch the ball and he will be a superstar, if he continues the perplexing drops, I look for Dillon Bell to be this year's breakout star. Go Dawgs…

I'm just going to throw this out there, but even when Smith has actually caught the ball, has he ever outrun a defender that he wasn't already behind? I have heard about his speed for four years now and have yet to really see it materialize. If he can't catch it, can they hand it to him? Can he return punts or kickoffs? I just want to see this blazing speed actually blaze. Go Dawgs.

You don't want your return guy to be someone who drops balls, do you?

The fact that those defenders are behind him before he catches the ball, is a good thing isn't it? I mean, I've never seen anybody catch up with him. I recall a couple of guys trying to keep up with him and falling flat on their face.

I hope last year's drops were just a temporary thing for Smith. We only seen flashes of his potential (especially in Ohio State in the 2022 Peach Bowl). With more consistency, imagine how much he can stretch the field for possession receivers like Bell and Lovett.

I’m rooting for All our Dawgs and I say that as strong as I can. But I’m really rooting for Arian to have a breakout year. To the best of my knowledge he’s a good kid. No one hates the drops more than him. You could see the pain and disappointment on some of his drops. I’m not a coach or football expert by a long shot but I think allot of it is mental. So when he made a couple of good catches in the bowl game vs FSU I think ( Hope) it was medicine for him.

I honestly believe Arian can help the team allot if he can get past the drops. But Again I’m rooting for ALL our Dawgs. I’m hoping and cheering that they will ALL slip on a National Championship ring !!! Go Dawgs !!!
