Georgia stock report: Coaching and star players failed to measure up in 41-34 loss at Alabama
TUSCALOOSA — Georgia football stock plunged in the first quarter of the Bulldogs’ 41-34 loss to Alabama on Saturday night.

This was the worst job of preparation & coaching by a Kirby Smart staff that I have ever seen. Period.
“Obviously we were not prepared and that falls on me.” Smart is the highest paid coach in college football and his team was not prepared? What was he doing the past two weeks?
Since the sec title game, Georgia is 4-2, but is one play away from being 3-3 in the last 6 games. Kirby currently doesn’t have the staff or players to win a championship. That was excruciatingly evident last night. We all saw last night why Stetson beat out Beck 3 years ago. 2 weeks to get ready and Georgia looked more like his first team than his 9th. Kirby has that team in his head. I doubt Georgia plays that team again this season, but he better win when that team comes to Athens next season. No adjustments made until halftime. This staff can’t make adjustments during the game which was sorely needed in the first quarter. Like Kevin Butler said after the game, Beck should have been benched for at least a series to be told to get his head right and fast. This is NOT a playoff team based on the evidence from last night. Once again Kirby can’t defend a mobile QB.
You would think from the fact that we almost scored 41 pts that Bobo would be praised, but considering he didn't wake up until 2nd half is getting old. It's the difference between him being a Great coach vs should be fired.
Definite fails on rest of coaching staff for squandering the off week. We need to stop preparing generically and instead focus on our opponent. Bama did that and it cost us the game.
Adaptation is needed.
OK I don’t think there’s any Dawgs Fans that are any More disappointed than I am. Trust me I’m Extremely disappointed . BUT I would advise that we All do the very best we can to shake off this loss so that as a fan we can Enjoy the rest of the season.
I mean isn’t that the main reason we watch, is to Enjoy ?? If you can’t find it in your heart to Believe in these Dawgs and I understand that then at the very least Hope for them. Our Dawgs have what should be two very winnable games coming up. Perhaps they can at the very least find ways to get better.
No they might not live up to the preseason hype, but then again they might find themselves and pull that off, but if they can only get better it might be a season to enjoy. We’ve all seen much worse seasons, well maybe not all but many of us.
I have a question and I Humbly ask Please no sarcastic responses. But if our Dawgs can pull off some how losses to only Bama and TX in the regular season where do Yall think it would put them in the scheme of things ?? I don’t know how probable this is but I do think it’s possible. Heck who knows we might upset TX. Anyhow try not to become bitter or it’ll Ruin your Dawgs season and possibly even your health.
Believe in them if you can or at least Hope if you can’t believe. God Bless All my fellow Dawgs fans. Go Dawgs !! P.S. I said Allot of things last night out of pure anger as like most of you I was angry and hurt that the two week Bye seemed wasted. But I’m gonna shake it off best I can and get back to cheering our beloved Dawgs on.
It looked like the team thought they would just walk on the field and all would be good. That can work at Kentucky, but it was really disappointing to see such lack of focus early on in a huge game like this. The Dawgs looked like the Arkansas team that came into Athens in 2021, and Bama played out of their minds. The missed catch by Smith really set the tone on offense - it was a perfect deep ball from Beck, and it's the kind of play that could have helped prevent the early blowout. In the end, it was total team loss.
Not much to say here. We were obviously unprepared and out coached. Inexplicable, we're simply not the dynasty some think we are. We have a roster full of "good players" but we lack a couple of game changing "great players", I.e. Milroe and Williams that can change a game in an instant. We miss Todd Monken….
Mike, this is one of your best post-game synopses, especially on the honest assessments of dropping stock. Time to re-group. Ever the optimist, I still say we can control our own destiny. Go Dawgs!
Another second half comeback. I'm sick of second half comebacks. Time for serious change if we want to be a champion, again. We're getting out recruited and out coached. The problem is in Butts-Mehr.
Are we now Clemson 2.0?
@navydawg…as I said in the post concerning our grades for last night, the playoff gods are probably looking down on us with mixed emotions of both pity and pride…our partial comeback lets enough light to shine on the Dawgs that the showing last night wasn't a complete embarrassment. If we can lose no more than one more game - assuming we play a heckuva lot better than last night and still lose a close match - and make it to the SEC Championship then I'd say we have a real decent shot at the playoffs. If we don't make it to the SEC Championship game then who knows…all of this depends on how we regroup and play the rest of the season and how any potential loss looks. It will also depend on how all the other SEC teams fare.
Bottom line is: We didn't do ourselves any favors by losing the way we did last night. Moral victories can only take you so far, but they can provide some help if it comes down to the wire in getting in the playoffs. We simply need to take care of business, learn from yesterday, and move forward. Take it one game at a time and go from there.
AD Brooks will have words with Smart! He is pouring hundreds of millions $$$ into facilities on Kirby's back…big mistake. Since Monken and Bennett, UGA has slowly fallen as a team. Bobo is pathetic, so now is Schumann!!! Kirby better buck it up or he will be on the line. I wish Brooks would hire DeBoer. He is a tremendous coach for first year. Kirby runs up and down the sideline looking like his son..a kid. He really has no idea how to prepare for these big games. He is being exposed. Bad hires. Teams woefully unprepared. I am telling you, Brooks will not brook this for long (pun intended,) He will not accept another Richt, who could not beat FL.
"But I’m gonna shake it off best I can and get back to cheering our beloved Dawgs on."……navydawg, DITTO…..Some wise people once said in a movie….
***"accentuate the positive"…..the way we played in the second half was not perfect but our never quit mentality and execution showed much improvement….we need to start there and get BETTER…..I've recovered and life is so full of blessings, one of which is that I'M A DAWG FOR LIFE AND **** PROUD TO BE! Gooooooo Dawgs, Sicem, Woof, Woof, Woof!
*** Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters……..for the 95% of Dawg Nation, Google them and learn from this ole Dawg Fart the GREAT music this generation has missed!
Good and realistic take Montana. All we ask from our Dawgs is their very best and at the Start of games. If they do that they Will be better. How much better who knows ?? But I gotta Love Em been a fan far to long to walk away. And there Will be bad games and entire seasons along with the good games and entire seasons. Kirby has done to good of a job for us ( not saying You) to write him off. I advise all Dawgs fans let’s see how far we can go, maybe we won’t be a championship team this year ( but Maybe we will) but I Hope we can at least be respectable. Thx for your feedback !! Go Dawgs !!
