None of what you said is relevant. The only thing that is relevant is whether Young put his hands on this woman.
Even if she was battering him he is a 6'4" 220 lb dude conditioned to taking hits from 200+ lb men. In that situation you walk away. Always.

Unless there is actual video footage of the exchange between them, at his residence, I might add, then it is He said, She said.

You don’t get to play God in judgment of these young kids in emotional times where you have NO IDEA what that “ex girlfriends” motives are, what state of mind she is in, what kind of person she is, how she was raised, NOTHING. I and others live in something called the “Real World”, where these silly superlatives and canned lines about chivalry and other 💩 mean absolutely nothing.
You weren’t there, you don’t know anyone involved, there was no witnesses, and as of yet there are no hallway cameras or ring cameras that have video of the interaction.

I didn't judge anyone. The only thing that is relevant is what happened and IF he put his hands on her. Never said he did or didn't.
As far as never knowing you are also wrong. There are ways of finding out. If there was a loud argument at 2 am you can bet it was overheard. There is an old saying windows have eyes and walls have ears. If there are bruises on EITHER of them the storieS can then begin to be pieced together and corroborated. You'd be surprised what videos there are available. Cell phones, ring cameras and security cameras are everywhere. You would also be surprised to hear what people say to the police themselves. Self incriminating and confessional conversations happen all the time in an interrogation room. The truth is very likely to come out.

My actual 1st question would be that she would need to be confirmed with child before he could be charged with "assaulting and unborn child". But that is only relevant to the charges filed.
