The final grades are in from a 41-31 Georgia football win over Mississippi State.

If we're grading as we usually do, some of these grades are too high. Our standard is very high. We compare ourselves to elite teams or against ourselves when we are playing at an elite level. How close to elite did we look? Our opponent looked way too good compared to us, and, let's keep this in mind, Mississippi State is almost certainly the worst team in the SEC. We made 'em look pretty good.
It's time to play a lot better across the board.
Go, Dawgs!
Overall very sloppy game. We let a Freshman Quarterback throw for 370. The first of the season our running back room was suppose to very good. Not impressed. Could be because of all the injuries we have everywhere on the team. There is a lot to get repaired and quick or Texas could be a disaster. Win or Loose still a Dawg.
Agree with Jim Wallace. These grades are too high against a team like Mississippi State...AT HOME. They are the cellar of the SEC, and we let them stick around all game and had to play our first team most all the game. I'd rate us an overall C- with the 2nd half performance of the defense being a solid F.
We've got to start playing complete games - 60 minutes of good, solid effort. Not these half-baked, unfocused, sloppy, penalty-filled efforts.
A couple things that stood out to me:
One week to get better! Go Dawgs!
Both Yurosek and Delp had big whiffs. TE Reddell is supposed to be a stud… why not give hime some snaps? Go Dawgs!
Even though Georgia won, I thought the game was horrendous. One of the few decent home game opportunities for the Dawg Nation, Georgia almost to the man played without any emotion or energy. For the talent on this team, this is embarrassing. There seem to be no leaders on this year's team. Beck is like a walking Buddha…. Probably spent the Summer in his Lambo instead of pitching balls to his receivers. It shows. He is not first day NFL draft material. I hate to say it, but Texas is probably going to put a historical whooping on this highly talented but unmotivated and undisciplined team. 2024 will go down as the year that Smart's Dawgs lost their Elite status.
Offensive grades should be higher (including Bobo would had a great game) and everything related to pass defense should be much, much lower. This wasn't Stroud or Milroe.
The stats show a contradictory experience. We kept them 2 for 12 on 3rd downs and only 17 first downs... But 306 yards passing. We can't give up 31 pts and expect to win.

My grades:
Coaching: D
QB: D-
OL: C-
RB: D+
Recevers: D+
Defense: F
We've got the highest paid coaching staff in college football. Definitely the highest paid head coach. The last several years we have recruited in the Top 3. Yet, we haven't played a solid, good, complete, 60 minutes of football this season since the Clemson game.
That must change against Texas.
