Mostly agree with the grades and reasoning.

Kirby and many fans just wanted to see the Dawgs play a complete game for the first time this season. Well, we didn't get that exactly but we did finally get a dominating defensive performance that rocked the house!! Very proud of every single defensive player, especially Walker and Williams. But, make no mistake, every player on defense showed what we are capable of doing this season. Defense wins Championships. Get and keep guys healthy and we move forward together. Leadership stepped up last night on the defense.

Solid performance from the O-line, Etienne and the running game, and hats off to Thorsen & Peyton Woodring! These folks were most of the offense. Beck and his receivers have work to do if we want to make the playoffs and win more games.

But despite some hiccups it was a night to remember! GO DAWGS!!

    Beck gets an F.

Bobo gets a D and needs to go.

Tough grades. I agree with most of them. Would've given the O-line and special teams higher grades though.

I'm a big fan of Thorson and Woodring. They respectively are very good candidates for both Ray and Lou Groza awards. Their prowess and dependability were on full display last night (except for the single mistake of the unintentional squib. The coverage team also taught a very good punt returner that returning a Thorson kick is a fool's errand (negative-5 yards). Meanwhile, Evans had that nice return that set up good field position.

The OL, without Ratledge and against a tough DL, protected Beck and opened up some holes for Etienne. On many drop backs, including at least one interception, Beck had plenty of time, but just threw poorly. They deserve more than a B-.

Finally, I think you're going a bit easy on Beck, or else hard on the receivers. He played just about as poorly as they did.

The number of drops by the offense was bad enough, but the drops on sure fire interceptions was mind boggling!!

Should have run the ball more, especially in the 4th quarter. And PLEASE stop the run up the middle on short yardage. Our O line can’t push a Volkswagen out of the way.

Since you did bring up the "targetting" calls, Connor, this "call" needs to be seriously reviewed for coming seasons. This is such a subjective penalty that it is not very clear to the reviewers as to its accuracy. In addition, if we are going to look at the second call against Aguero in which he is charged with hitting the opposing player in the chest with the crown of the helmet, is it wise to invoke a penalty which will eliminate his eligibility for the first half of the next game when after seeing this again and again myself, the danger to his own neck would have been far greater if he had kept his head up to avoid the crown? Perhaps we will have to go to cartoonish apparel with the helmet covered in enough foam to be commensurate with the big ONE Finger proclaimed by the Longhorn fans BEFORE the game.

Coaching deserves a D. I have no idea what Kirby is talking about with respect to the second half kick-off. Was it suppose to be an on-side kick? A squib kick? Your defense just dominated in the first half, you kick it through the end zone and put them on the field. No reason to play around and give them a short field. And the decision to go for it at the end was just dumb. Punt it deep and make them go the length of the field with no time outs. Twice! And if you are going for it, why go out of the shotgun when you need two feet? You’re making your back run 5 yards just to get to the line of scrimmage.
