David Pollack makes curious connection on lack of usage for tight end Oscar Delp
David Pollack had some interesting comments on Oscar Delp.

I honestly hope K Smart will bring in a Co offensive coordinator to help Bobo. While I don't think Bobo is the best, he could become better with more brain power in the room. Even Monken said that he was helped by Bobo's presence. Same for the offensive line coach.
I mostly agree with David. Now whether it's a trust issue with Delp & Beck is something we may never know. Delp and Luckie are both very capable TEs, but neither has the talent of a Brock Bowers nor do any of the WRs. I think Kirby, Beck, and the receivers all realize that this cog in the wheel MUST come together somehow, some way to get the Dawgs to a winnable position for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
I can hardly wait for Jaden Reddell to get significant playing time. He looks more like a younger Brock Bowers than any of the other tight ends.
DAWGS have a commitment from another great TE in Ethan Barbour from Milton HS in Georgia, who is also very athletic (247 sports list him at 6'3..235). He will make a nice addition to the TE room when he arrives on campus..GoDAWGS!
I don’t think Pollack trying to tell the world what’s going on in Beck’s head is particularly helpful. Even if he’s right (which we’ll never know), that idea getting planted into Delp’s head is just going to creat doubt and self-destruction.
I don’t know if David is right about it being a Trust issue. But I Do think guys have to Earn targets. That is Catch the ball when you get a decent opportunity.
I Love Oscar Delp, I Love All our TEs. But in the Now it seems Lawson Luckie has the hottest hands of the TEs. So for the time being you pretty much have to target the guys with the hottest hands.
If Oscar makes a couple of good catches Especially contested catches he can work his way right back into being targeted more. Off topic but I wish Arian Smith would be more consistent ( he has improved a little) as he has the Speed to get open, not the shiftiest WR but just has raw speed.
We Need All our guys to start catching and securing the ball !! Go Dawgs !!
Is the phrase, “the standard” now used in every article or tV show about football?
Amen!….Jaden is one of 7 in the TE room that are "works in progress"….I'm thinking it's time, especially for R/Soph Patrick Hester and Cooper Johnson to see some playing time….at 6'5" 260 Hester seems prime for over the middle target. I contend that once our TE's become more reliable the pressure for the WR's will slack off, the play book opens wider, and our RB's become a headache.
I feel like the author of this article left out a key stat about Delp that would further the narrative about Delp not being “elite” or trusted when the ball comes his way-out of those “only” 7 receptions he has on the season, how many times has he fumbled the football?
I can think of two times just off the top of my head.
So not only does he have the dropsies, he also can’t hold onto the football AFTER he somehow catches it!
Major, MAJOR drop off in performance from last season to this season. Hopefully the coaches, Brantley, etc, can figure it out for him.
