Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Im all for punishing a man that abuses a woman in anyway physically. I'm also not for punishing and ruining a man's career and future over a jealous rage because she got dumped(as unkind as that might be). I don't know which it was. THere was a reason that the police were called and a reason that she wants all charges dropped. It's OK to speculate what those reasons were without casting judgment either way. THey don't add up. I guess we all need to quit watching dateline.
Put the dude back on the team. This is not a RaRa Thomas situation. I get it. Needs to be taken seriously. But his rights are as important as hers.
If it's true, put him back on the team.
An opposing set of questions could be asked of Colbie. For instance, he knows the consequences of having children and/or baby mommas while young and trying to forge a pro career. Why didn't he wrap it up or insist on her proof of birth control? Why didn't he remove himself from the apartment once she refused to leave? I mean, call a teammate and go there, no consequences, right?
You claim it's purely he-said/she-said but then you declare that, "she picked up his phone and saw another woman's texts". How do you know that's how it went down unless you were there? If you want to suspend allegations, then don't introduce them as facts. BTW, the police report states that Colbie was on the phone with another female, nothing to do with texts.
The one thing that makes it more than he-said/she-said is the marks on her. According to the police report, "After inspecting the victim’s injuries – noticing a bruise and discoloration on the bottom side of her chest where it meets the abdomen and redness on her right flank." Those marks are the witness.
Also from the report, " The officer asked Young what had occurred with the victim. Young initially told him nothing before opening up in further interviewing….Young was “very closed and gave very short answers” according to the report. He said that the victim “came over invited” to talk about their recently ended relationship.
Evaluating all the information he had gathered from the two sources, the officer found probable cause “based on the totality of the circumstances with physical evidence of injury” and placed Young under arrest.
The officer requested special condition of bond “due to (the victim) expressing some concerns about mental abuse in the past that had now escalated to alleged physical abuse.” She made mention of being scared of him, also adding the Young owns a firearm."
She was invited over by Young. He initially lied to the cops. He put his hands on her. He admitted to an escalation in the conversation. He owns a gun. Do these seem like good decisions on Colbie's part? You can blame the alleged victim all you want while also still holding Colbie responsible for his part.
Baby-mama wised up and finally realized that baby-daddy will make more $$$, hence, more $$$ for her, if he has a shot at the NFL, which is less likely to happen if he gets kicked off the team. Can be the diff between $600 month child support or $6000 month child support. She's finally playing the long game.
Hoping for the best for both parties and I definitely made my share of mistakes as a kid but the length of time before the retraction makes one question it .
I Hope this resolves this for Both of these young people’s sakes. And for the Dawgs sakes that Young is restored to the team. And last but certainly not least for the taxpayers and judicial system of Athens-Clark County as this will be one less case to be tried through the system.
Hopefully lessons will be learned by Both of these young people AND Hopefully it’ll serve notice to other young people how easily a situation can escalate into something Very bad, Very fast.
I’ve read the comments here and we can speculate and discuss etc. But we I've to be careful not to Judge because we only know from the information we’re given, we weren’t there and might Never know the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth. Let’s Hope it all goes smoothly for All parties involved.
