I am utterly shocked that a University of Georgia football team, especially one led by Kirby Smart, would rank 15th out of 16 SEC teams in rushing yards and ATTEMPTED rushes. Kirby and the team try to make it like we've been forced to throw because teams are stopping our run. But it was quite clear to me that in both the Texas and Florida games, we had a "pass first" game plan. We really didn't try to establish the run. Now whether the coaches are doing that because they have no faith in the running game — or are trying to showcase the passing game to get better wide receiver recruits — I have no idea. I just know that we shouldn't be second to last in the conference in rushing attempts. It's not like we're loaded with All-American receivers and Carson Beck is throwing for 300 yards per game.
Kirby cannot be serious. We are in Week 11, and you're telling me that this team has gotten better?? Clemson wasn't a bed of roses, but other than that game and certainly Texas, I can't say we've played even a solid B grade game in all phases. It feels like this team is running in place and not going forward at all…definitely backwards in some regards.
I'm not buying THAT Kool-Aid that Kirby is trying to sell.
As I posted a couple of days ago…Sports Writer Seth Emerson wrote a great piece in the Athletic and sums things as it stands today rather succinctly:
" Well, good news: Nobody on this Georgia team is playing well enough to deserve to point fingers at anyone else.
What is the one thing that this team is very good at? What is the thing that you can count on this team being good at in any game, no matter what? Well, other than the punter and the kicker, who both are doing their jobs very well. The fact they are inarguably the best things about this team right now says enough. "
I stopped listen to his press conf 3 games ago. SSDD
My own opinion, mine only, Kirby's position coaches aren't working out. Searles wasn't a good line coach for Richt. The receivers had dropping problems when Coley was here before. Most magically disappeared with McClendon. The secondary coaches inherited a really good secondary, and they have looked lost most of the year. Ole Miss had WR's running open all over the field. The problems this year come from coaching
