Final grades from Georgia football bounce back win over Tennessee
ATHENS — Kirby Smart has reiterated time and time again how difficult it is to win on the road.

Whoa... and where did that come from!? So excited for the Dawgs, the fans, and the extended community... and esp. Carson Beck 🤠🤙
I (and several others) have been pretty harsh on Carson this past month, not so much about his performance (that was obvious), but his leadership behaviors... he was a whole new 2024 Beck Saturday night! More like what we saw in 2023.
He had energy, was constantly talking to his teammates, was walking the sidelines instead of sitting on the bench all the time, and really demonstrated tremendous passion both on and off the sidelines. An A+ from a leadership perspective, especially in contrast to the last month.
Give the O line all the credit they deserve, but CB's highly visible leadership (including breaking some great, unscheduled runs) really lifted the rest of the team, creating a positive snowball effect into the second half... not sure what he and CKS did over the last week to dig deep and unleash this renewed leadership, but more of the same please 😃
Hoping the Dawgs not only win out and go far in the CFP, but also super hopeful this helps Carson's draft prospects!
Special teams needs a grade too. Thorsen is a weapon every game, whether punting or laying out a punt returner with a tackle.
Very proud of this team. The young men showed heart and a resiliency that I did not think they had in them this year. Getting Smael Mondon back I believe really helped the defense.
If only the OC can show as much imagination in getting more players involved in the passing game going forward this team could go far.
Go DAWGS
Enough can't be said for the performance of the O-line which allowed Beck to have the time he needs in the pocket to finally shine and get back on track. Great use of Delp and the other TEs that I've been waiting to see all season. The defensive front 7 disrupted Nico enough to cause problems. Having Mondon back was key. Great play by several LBs.
Wish we could bottle up this offensive performance with our Texas game defensive performance and bring that out for every game. Just would love to see some consistency from this team, but I know that can be difficult to bring every week with injuries and such. Expect us to be in the playoffs if we can win the next two...maybe even with a game in Athens. And get some injured guys back by then.
Offensive Line—-Run blocking-D—-Pass blocking-A. Chambliss played the game of his career. At 3:03 left in the third quarter-"that was Jalon Walker making that play-we haven't called his name much tonight"-TV announcer on Jalon Walker's impact on the game. He has all the talent in the world, but in some games he just disappears!!
As always, we need a grade for Coaching. I think they got a solid "A". Bobo was humiliated and obviously felt the heat and pressure and called a great game. He seems to be the type that either is prepared or not or maybe he gets scared or flustered. He did fantastic last night though.
The first three offensive and defensive series was lame. I thought here we go again. Out of nowhere Beck found his balls, ran, and lowered a shoulder in the tackle. That was an inspirational turning point for the team. From that point forward Beck lead the team with a commanding presence. There was a different body language about the entire team. That leadership element has been sorely missed. Moving forward the question is can our Dawgs build and improve on last night's performance? I'm confident they can and will.
Go Dawgs!
"The return of Smael Mondon was massive for this position group, as he led the team in tackles with 8 and added a sack."
This man was all over the field being a disruptive force for the Vols offense. He brought a new energy to the Dawgs defense that we haven't seen very often. It was great to see him back in action and he made the most of it, even on several plays that he didn't get his named mentioned for by Fowler and Herbstreit.
GO DAWGS!
Great effort all the way around. Kept the door open for more opportunities down the road.
Defensive line…B+…worked hard against a pretty good offense…it showed. Nico had a tough night.
Outside linebacker.….A… Nico was a caged QB by the OLBs
Final Grade…A. Coaches really amped up this game ..great game plan and scheme three full quarters.
Chaz has been much maligned over the years, but what a game he had. In fact, he's had a tremendous season.
He and Dan Jackson are two of my favorite players because they work so hard, always show up, and are big time team players. Dan Jackson was a starter who lost his job, never quit giving it his best, and regained his job, only to make big time contributions this season. Isn't Dan still a walk on?
It's great to see the grades increase so much from last week's report card!
Go, Dawgs!
Definitely agree across the board, but really appreciate Chambliss and Jackson because they keep on chuggin' regardless of the little credit they get despite being largely hyper-reliable...
In today's football world, it's great to see high-performers who are humble, team-first, and keep a low profile off the field 😎👍
Said in a post last week that I admired Beck’s guts vs. Ole Miss on his runs and maybe he could push for another yard or so.
Last night was even better. Great, gutsy, powerful running getting every yard possible. Loved when he knocked over the Tenn DB on one run. (Kind of like Herschel. Ok, got carried away but still good stuff).
Mondon was a beast, hair on fire!
Pollock must be proud
