ATHENS — Kirby Smart wasted little time in offering up his assessment on Georgia’s play on Saturday.

I did not watch this game, so I won't comment specifically on it other than to say it sounds like our defense was asleep at the wheel, and Kirby was disappointed that more freshmen and greenhorns didn't get more playing time because of our unmotivated, sloppy, poor tackling play.
This was a wasted and worthless game overall. There is nothing to be gained from playing this kind of game other than losing guys to injury. (which we did). It really doesn't tell you anything meaningful way or another about this team, but it does leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth going into an important game against Tech.
Brett Thorson did not punt in the win, so there was no tackling on display from the Australian.

The offense played well, even if it was against an overmatched opponent. Georgia has had and will have to have e better defensive showings moving forward. Getting gashed like it did on the ground will not be a winning recipe.
Indeed. From the stands, our defense looked sloppy, weak, unmotivated, and slow.
Sometimes the receivers seemed to be making mistakes. Sometimes, Carson missed, usually overthrowing.
Overall, it looked like the Dawgs were playing down to the competition. Had they been more dominant earlier, it would have allowed more playing time for backups needing game reps. Too bad. Still, it was a pretty easy win. The game seemed closer than the scoreboard indicated.
Go, Dawgs!
"Smart did lament that we couldn't get more reps for our young QBs". ??? Up by 24 very late in the third quarter and guess who's at QB—Carson Beck. All you have to do is put them in. God forbid if Beck goes down—we have nobody with any experience.
I just worry about the Dawgs thinking they can just turn on and off the intensity during these games.Hated to see C Miller go down with us being so thin on the D line. I was happy to see the TE room continue to up their game. Let's wreck tech and run the table. GO DAWGS!
Why are our starters in the game late in the 3rd quarter. Trial by fire! Put them in so that they can get experience. No way possible you're going to tell it was a good idea to keep Beck in the game in the second half. Not smart Kirby Smart.
very gracious with the C's Dfense was way too porous on runs
This game…trash bin. No impact and lost a good player to injury. Almost two! I guess the game was supposed to give younguns playing time…..? Did it? Not really. It did expose the feckless defense. I believe all minds are on Tech, which should be another fairly easy win …but it won't be. This Georgia team is like a yoyo…play to the standard and you won't have these perennial problems. Come on Dawgs….take it to Tech with a vengeance.
That’s a very generous grade for our secondary. Absolutely pathetic performance. I’m thinking a more appropriate grade is D-! Nah let’s go ahead and keep it real - F.
Starters were in late because the optics of this game were bad. MA had 21 pts early in the3rd Q. And the committee has been impressed by teams beating up on nobodies. The committee has not been impressed by UGA's unimpressive wins against the nobodies on its schedule. CKS left the sleep walking starters in to try and make a positive impression on the committee. Almost cost UGA Carson Beck.
Very generous.
