What Kirby Smart about Georgia football season, offensive future after loss to Notre Dame
NEW ORLEANS — Georgia’s season has come to an end, with the Bulldogs falling 23-10 to Notre Dame on Thursday.

no questions about why the o line couldn’t protect and whether Searles will be **** canned like he should be?
I think it’s time to innovate the offense. If Bobo stays, make him make adjustments. I would start Frazier, it looked like he had more juice than Ettiene, let the young WRs play (Evans, Tuggle, Taylor, and Wiley, etc). We need playmakers, and I’m saying if the young guys don’t play on offense, they’ll transfer out eventually. I know Kirby wants young players to be patient and learn the basics, but we don’t want players leaving when they could be difference makers. Jackson Meeks put up 1k yards and he couldn’t even crack top 5 on the depth chart, and we haven’t had one since T. Edwards….
Gunner balled out, The Oline again was suspect. We have to go find 2 real Wr's and make people respect them!
I’m sure those two captains on the stage with Kirby are great guys and good leaders, but, unfortunately, they both had critical penalties in the game.
I was very impressed with Stockton's long throws…he seemed to have a better deep ball then Beck.
Kirby's the coach and he can say what he wants, but UGA was a very good team this year, but not elite at the spots and at the times they needed to be elite. Etienne was supposed to be the top RB in the portal last year. He played very hard, but he was just so-so throughout the year. Yes, he got injured some, but even healthy, he wasn't gangbusters. Kirby keeps harping about the injuries to the O-Line. I never thought it was about their injuries and the Sugar Bowl proved it. The starters were all healthy and they just got WHIPPED, by a Notre Dame D-Line that was missing it's best player. If our receivers had caught the ball all year like they caught it today, we may have gone undefeated. We would have definitely beaten Alabama. I don't care what Kirby says, Smael Mondon didn't play as well this year as in previous seasons. Now, maybe it is because of his injuries but he is definitely a step or two slower than he was when he got to UGA. Just go watch tape of his older games. Also, Kirby keeps talking about "being down" and needing to take advantage of every possession. We could have gone into halftime down by 3 points. I like our odds of making up 3 points in 30 minutes. Not so much when it's 17 points in 30 minutes. I honestly don't know why he thought we were going to move the ball 40-50 yards in 39 seconds when we had only scored 3 points in the first 29 minutes of the half. It didn't make sense and it never will. I don't automatically join the "bash Bobo" brigade, but he called a lousy game today. And no, we didn't run the ball well, but we also didn't try very hard. Etienne had just 11 carried. I think Frazier had four. The end of the first half would have been a great time to run the ball, or try to. Then, when we do run the ball on that crucial 3rd and 3 in the third quarter, we try to run Cash Jones up the middle. I'm not mad that Georgia lost. But I am upset that we didn't even have to play all that much better to beat Notre Dame. If we had just played smart football, and we could have beaten them with field goals.
I am curious of what game you were watching, Gunner did not ball out. He could not get the team into the endzone after various trips in the redzone. I mean if you say he played better than you expected then ok, but other than the busted coverage on the TD, we did not score a touch down. We have to be realistic about what we saw.
From a 10,000 foot view…Look at how tight and sharp the Dawgs looked the last several years...Last year was bobos first after monken. The O was running off of their previous years coaching, this year it was more Bobo and it all felt like the richt years. The fish stinks from the head back. 3rd and 3? Yeah, let's run the little guy up the middle...seriously? When you've always been mediocre, you're always gonna be mediocre.
Gunner? It was ALOT to ask of the kid. Glad he was able to get that experience.
I want to start out by saying that a lot of our problems last night were **** mistakes. The call when there are 37 seconds left in the first half and you are down only three come on, get into halftime that's on Kirby and Bobo. Not kicking the ball out of the end zone whose call was that. Freeling has all season been sub par letting people get past him time to make a decision on him. On the NIL Georgia alumni better have DEEP pockets if they expect to 1. get players and 2. keep players, it is a whole new, pardon the pun, ballgame. Welcome to the semi pro's. We the faithful will hang with you Dawgs through thick or thin but don't expect college football to ever be the same as it was. That is sad.
@DallasDawg Trevor Etienne was never the top RB in the portal. That was just Dawgnation rooting for the home team. The top RB in the portal was Judkins, who went to Ohio State. Etienne was merely the 2nd string RB for a losing Gators team. Except for the big time WRs that UGA landed this year and George Pickens a few years back, UGA has rarely landed elite skill players under Kirby Smart either out of high school or the portal because … well we won't get into that. So Dawgnation/AJC hypes up the players that UGA does get. It is "hometown newspaper" stuff. But if Etienne never started or rushed for 1000 yards in Gainesville there was no reason to expect him to do it in Athens.
I thought Gunner had a great game considering he was under pressure all night and we couldn't run the ball. Hate to say it but our offensive line played like crap for the last several years despite the staff telling us how great they are.If you want to be in Joe Moore consideration, you have to be able to gain one or two yards when THEY KNOW you're gonna run. Thought D also played a good game. Most of the points came off special teams or short field. Game was closer than the score shows but still a loss. Let's get better and come back next year and win it all again. GO DAWGS!
Yes, it is legal to substitute all 11 players on the field at one time in college football. The NCAA rules allow for mass substitutions, provided that the officials give the opposing team an opportunity to make their own substitutions. This ensures that both teams have a fair chance to adjust their personnel.
Learn the rules Kirby.
I’m sorry, gunna sound backside hurt here, but those o linemen should be ashamed of themselves today. They got man handled by significantly smaller competition and lost us the game.
That’s the game I watched. Those linemen were no junkyard dawgs last night. Go watch the other teams in the playoff, watch how their line mauls folks. Then feel free to come back and down vote all you want.
