Georgia offensive line must improve under Stacy Searels in 2025 after positional turnover
ATHENS — Georgia’s offensive line was not up to standard this season. The Bulldogs averaged 124 rushing yards per game, good for 102nd in the country. That is the new low mark of the Kirby Smart era.

our OL recruiting and development have suffered the last couple of years. So we are an avg OL with avg talent.
Time to improve on the improvers as far as the OL, goes.
I believe you meant to say below average ( 102nd to be specific).
Coaching is the problem at that position, can’t have your seniors in the final game have “bad technique.” That’s code for “ we were lazy.”
Searles gotta go!
to go from being in contention for the Joe Moore award multiple years in a row to where we are now is unacceptable. I know you can miss the mark in a job and that requires grace, but this is a down right meltdown of a position group.
Coaching is the issue. This is the one area that must, and I mean must, be addressed. If Kirby doesn't fix this, we will have more of this year, and it will eventually hurt recruiting. Bobo's play calling is terrible, but our O lIne play is beyond terrible. And for all you guys who say, well, the coaches can't go on the field and block - that's a non sequitur. The coach knew the players capability, brought that into this year and it failed. And there was no back up plan. And they didn't get any better. That's coaching. And it's not one year. We've had a couple years where we've fallen behind. UGA is a premier football institution with all the money to deal with these issues. Time to deal with them. By the way, I personally don't think Kirby will - not that anyone asked.
Serial top recruiting classes. We should have depth at each position. Yet, we have an underperforming OL? Talent can't be the problem. Must be coaching.
What are you going to do about it, Kirby?
Few egos have the ability to make the proper decision as quickly as needed. Saban had the cojones.
gotta say I agree with you mostly. The coaches are the problem 100. I do know that if us fans see this issue, Kirby does as well. I feel it will be addressed some how.
I get all the Bobo hate, but I can’t blame a play call for missed opportunities when we lead the nation in dropped passes and had the 102nd ranked o line.
let that sink in, if some one told you we would win the sec with leading the nation in drops and having an o line ranked 102nd would you believe them?
Making chicken salad out of chicken poo is what I would call that.
Our biggest question marks next season now rest with both the offensive and defensive lines/front 7. The foundation of everything.
How these 2 groups perform will ultimately dictate how the season goes.
THe way I see it (and I maybe wrong but I don't believe I am hence why I am writing this) , is we could have taken away Bobo this year and inserted JIm CHaney and still got the 8 dud first halfs we got where we averaged 5 points and the 31 points per game average,. WHere is the originality in play calling? If we're honest, we all watched Ga Tech move the ball on us with ease and we said to ourselves that **** BUster Faulkner. That guy knows his stuff! We beat them in the end because we have better players, just compare signing classes. BUt he took his guys and schemed against us and made the talent deficiency seem less than what it really was. THat's coaching them up. In what games did we outperform our recruiting rankings? One might argue Texas, but Texas maybe the most overated team all season. I think Ohio St will crush them.
while it is nice to have 22 WRs, they will never perform well until we have a non-porous Oline. ND embarrassed our linemen in that game and pointed out a huge need for improvement
You have now launched an atomic missile with the Jim Chaney mention. Ha! I had forgotten all about that man (perhaps so much pain hiding the memory I simply had erased that part), but now thanks to you, it is creeping back into my head! Surely it can't be that bad.
I think GA fans wish Pittman had been fired from Arkansas so he could come back and fix the offensive line.
Totally unsatisfactory to keep Bobo and Searles on the coaching staff…. I have the utmost respect for Kirby Smart, but this is just flat unacceptable.
Coaching has replaced recruiting of player talent as UGA's biggest problem. We are letting our players down to slow roll this unsatisfactory situation. Sounds like Connor Riley may know something the rest of us do not yet know…. Very troubling…
