Damon Wilson announces his transfer destination, to remain in SEC
Former Georgia outside linebacker Damon Wilson will be staying in the SEC, as the former Georgia outside linebacker announced he will be transferring to Missouri.

And to hell with Misery…
I don’t know so I’m asking. Is Wilson from that part of the country? If not, this has to be NIL right? Why would he leave UGA for Missouri if that’s not the case. He would be in a position to be a team leader next year with a much bigger role. Go Dawgs!
you can't tell me Missouri is going to pay him more in NIL money than GA.
Huh, didn't see that coming.
Head scratcher of a decision. Is he really going to get better there and make more money than he would have at Georgia?
Wow just wow. Oh well his life his decision. Just my opinion but I think it was a bad one with regard to his NFL future. I guess the big/smalller got to him the short term bucks.
Did I mention I hate NIL in its current and probably permanent form ? Yeah I do. 🙄
"Fellow former outside linebacker Sam M’Pemba transferred to Texas A&M."
This makes me wonder if M'Pemba would have stayed if he knew Damon Wilson was planning to jump ship.
GO DAWGS!
In general, I do not begrudge transfers in today's go-go NIL+TP world... sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
That said, current and/or future starters moving to an opponent within the SEC? Good riddance, IMHO. As a few other DN posters have said, either you're bought into the G or you're not. If UGA has given you its best (as it appears to have done with Wilson*) and you spurn the Dawgs to compete directly against them, then you're an adversary, pure and simple.
I work every day in every aspect of my life to be gracious with people... but adversaries, especially those who have effectively slapped an extended hand? No, I am not obligated to "wish them well"... at least not on the football field, in this case. In life? Always, of course.
I'm sure many of you are better than that, but I'm OK with reserving a little low-grade disdain for those who have "rejected the family" (esp. for a lesser opportunity) 🙄😁🤣
*PS: if UGA has not treated the person well, CKS has urged them to move on, and/or there is a significant personal driver (family, academic needs, etc.), then these points are moot, obviously
I believe I understand……could it have something to do with less competition and a much easier schedule??? Of course I would have been shooting for a starting position with TOS cause their NIL pockets are the deepest and they are the kings when it comes to a cupcake schedule.
Insanity is what college athletics has become… This 2025 roster is the weakest Kirby will field in his 10 year tenure… Tell me what elite athlete is on this team in a proven role? There are zero proven players on this depth chart…sure a few 5 or 4 star transfers but they've never taken one snap for UGA…
No proven QB, No proven WR (Bell had a horrible year) RB room has one decent back #3 besides that nothing, Off line a banged up takle and 4 holes to fill…TE room (#4 and #7) decent but not elite…. Def…mmmmmm Def line who you got? Nobody, LB's and outside…. #3 maybe and then a first year starter at safety, returning #6 who finally played well at end of the year and a 5 star who's never started.
A 1000's holes on this roster with concerns at every position…. Kirby has never in his 10 years had such a huge task in front of him…. with another brutal schedule minus no clempSOME and big homes games… this season could be a non playoff year for sure…. 9-3 or 8-4 are realistic this year folks… based on what little experience Kirby has on this roster…
Well said, Kudzu…..I feel exactly the same. Also getting to the point where I am bout ready to say FOCK IT. If it gets any worse, hope the schools grow some coconuts and blow this thing up. Then the pros can fund their free minor league system.
Would be perfectly happy to see walk-ons compete at all schools. Quickly losing my passion & love for the game.
A contributing factor to Saban's retirement was what unlimited portal and NIL would do to the sport. Low team spirit, it's all about the $$$ now. Until they put caps and limits, like the NFL, it's just going to get worse.
Does transferring from UGA make any sense in the long run? NO!!
Isn’t this the kid who lives with his parents in order to “become a better person” and “make better decisions”? It appears that approach didn’t take. I’m also pretty sure his parents might be TOO present in his life.
