Mel Kiper Jr. NFL mock draft has 3 Georgia Bulldogs going in the first round
ATHENS — The college football season has come to an end, with Ohio State beating Notre Dame.

I’m not saying Kiper got these three wrong. I believe they will be first round picks. But if you look at his full list I think he needs a new software update. I cannot see 2 TEs in the first round. The Penn state guy is good, but not sure about top 15??? Is he bowers good??
Well deserved DGDs!
Why has every article on DAWGNATION the past week included the reminder somewhere the outcome of the ohio state/notre dame game? Everybody that watches tv or goes online knows who won. I didn't watch the game, and could care less about either team, and im sure there are others who feel the same way as I do.They get enough attention elsewhere without having to include them in every article on a UGA website.
@1SICemDAWGS1
The reason is that because with Saban retired and Alabama off the scene - and no one else in the SEC looking formidable at the moment - plus Jim Harbaugh running off to the NFL in order to keep his beloved alma mater Michigan from getting hammered by NCAA sanctions, Ohio State is now considered UGA's #1 rival for contending for titles nationally. Indeed, if it wasn't for Alabama, UGA and Michigan, who knows how many national titles Ohio State would have by now. Clemson and Oklahoma, the other playoff mainstays for the last 10-15 years, have also fallen off and Southern Cal is a mess. So pretty much no one else to talk about.
@Brooksie
It is far from unheard of for 2 TEs to get drafted in the 1st. Last happened in 2019, and 3 went in 2017. It is more likely to happen this year because the pickings are slim at other offensive positions. Which brings me to …
No, he isn't Brock Bowers good, but Bowers only dropped to #13 because it was a loaded offensive draft where 6 QBs, 3 left tackles and 3 WRs went in the top 12. This draft isn't nearly as good as 2024 for QBs or WRs and it isn't great at RB either. So Tyler Warren getting drafted higher than Bowers will be due to how a particular draft year plays out, not because of their relative ability.
That being said, Tyler Warren is totally 1st round pick quality. If we take the position that Bowers is a generational talent, making it unfair to compare him to other prospects, then Warren is the sort who would definitely be taken not only in the 1st round but in the top half of the round. 6'6", 250 lbs (Bowers is 6'3", 230 lbs) and had 104 catches for 1233 yards for a team that would have made the championship game had James Franklin not made his usual big game 4th quarter choke (an act that the PSU boosters and alums are getting sick of and won't put up with for much longer). Warren also plays for a TE factory as PSU's last TE now starts for Jacksonville and the one before that starts for the Steelers (ahead of Darnell Washington). Yet Warren's stats this year dwarfed those guys in their last years.
If you take a look at this list of TEs who went in the 1st this century, Warren is definitely better than most of the guys on it: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/tight-ends-first-round/
Not much of a reason to me. Go to an Ohio state or notre dame site and see how many times the DAWGS are mentioned in articles. I'd be willing to bet you could count the number of times on 1 hand. Unless they beat UGA, then it's run in the ground that they beat a top SEC team in UGA . I guess it is a big deal to them when it happens, since it hasnt been a frequent occurance the past few years. But, they lose to UGA, and it's usually 1 article, and no further mention of that game is made in an article, so it can be flushed and forgotten.
@1SICemDAWGS1 Not endorsing, just explaining! Also for the record, I actually do check on the other sites from time to time and the writers discuss whoever's winning. Which meant they did talk about UGA quite a bit 2021-2022 plus 2023 until after the SECCG. And before that they talked about Bama and Clemson. Whoever is the top dog, the other fanbases are going to talk about how they want their own teams to win a title and take them down.
And as a particular example of this, see national columnist Dan Wetzel gloating over the (apparent) end of SEC dominance:
https://sports.yahoo.com/as-ohio-state-collects-big-tens-second-straight-national-title-the-sec-is-left-wondering-where-its-dominance-went-065524281.html
See CBS do the same:
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/the-big-tens-weaponization-of-clean-cash-and-lots-of-it-is-shifting-power-dynamics-from-south-to-north/
Again, whoever's winning.
@benzone..This isn't CBS or Y! though..of course national media sites are going to give attention to the top teams, that's a given. I'm taking about independent websites associated with those particular schools.. UGA has DAWGNATION and other sites. I'm sure osu and other teams have those same options as well. On those schools independent sites, the mention of a top team is usually to criticize, bash, or aspire to be as good as them. I can understand national media sites giving major attention to top teams, but not a local site intended for UGA sports. Occasionally, some news about other teams is fine, but to keep printing the score in every article for almost 2 weeks is getting old. If i wanted to keep being reminded of the score every day, I'd visit a nd or osu site. And as much as i dislike both teams, I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for that to happen. BTW..enjoying this back and forth convo lol you make great points. A very decent, civilized, adult conversation, thanks!
I like reading the additional, national football content occasionally posted to dawgnation. It saves me from going elsewhere to read something that might interest me. That may be why they put it here. I can always skip it.
As for the UGA defense having 3 NFL 1st rd draft players either CFB offenses are getting way better or those 3 players played not to get hurt most of the year. With 1 1st rd'er at each level of the D this D should've have been much more dominant this seasin than what we saw most of the time.
Oh and the PSU TE is about as close to Bowers as i have seen. He is bigger than BB not as fast though he can still move well. Excellent ball skills. Kinda like if you crossed BB with Gronk.
Mykell will need coaching? Well if that isn't a slur to our D-line coaching, what is? From what I'm hearing he just has that rare size and speed at his positiion. He was either hurt a lot or just underperformed IMHO. He had spurts where he was dominant and then games where you didn't hear his name much. MAlaki is a better tackler than pass defender IMO. BUt best wishes to them all.
I thought Penn St made a mistake by not getting Warren the ball more. He should of had 12 catches instead of 6. He was pretty much unstoppable.
Edit edit edit!
