The statistical area where the Georgia offense must improve the most in 2025

ATHENS — Kirby Smart talks about the importance of third down a lot. The Georgia head coach is likely to discuss the importance of third down at least once a press conference in some form or fashion.

Gotta block better. Everyone needs to block better. Especially the tackles and TE.
I’m not one to quickly dump assistant coaches, but personally I think Coach Searels should be on the “hot seat” this upcoming season. I’m not impressed with our OL and they appear to be our weakest link. Also, we don’t seem to be attracting the 5-star recruits like we did under Pittman and Luke. Hopefully it will change this year, but Kirby may have a tough decision to make if it doesn’t. Go Dawgs!!!
Just not enough difference makers on offense. We sort of played well by committee, but definitely a lack of star power on the offense. Not anyone on offense that started in 2024 will this year or at any year in the future be drafted in the 1st round outside of Carson BEck. No receivers, no TE's, no RB's, or O-linemen. Let that sink in. What has happened to the talent pool? The irony is that CB and Etienne get 80% of the inidvidual blame and they will be the 2 highest drafted players we had on our roster. I suppose for a fan perception is everything.
THe Defense played "bend but don't break" and did pretty well at it, but again, we just didn't have that beast that every other team had to account for on the line of scrimmage. And yes the O-line was the weakest link of all.
Playing against a running QB was problematic. Stopping the RB not so much.
To be in the top 3 in recruiting every year, the lack of 1st and even 2nd round draftable players is puzzling.
Absolutely agree !! The O Line Is by far the weakest link. The defensive line was nothing to clap about at least very much, but the O Line was really, really bad !! Just hope they can get these things fixed. But I have my doubts as Searls will have even less to work with. I’d Gladly be wrong !!
Good summary. Pretty much lays it out there. Lately the "talent" in the trenches has not proven itself to be at the top in the country. And that affects just about every aspect of the game. Recruiting matters and even that is not an exact science as the pundits rate high school players. The addition of. the NIL and portal are a deterrent for building an effective, cohesive team.
Agree BubbaBill! I didn’t like the hire from the get-go. He was mediocre on Coach Richt’s staff. He was mediocre on UNC’s staff. Our o-line consists of 4 and 5 star recruits and has performed far below their ability level. That’s coaching, plain and simple. Personally, I would replace Searals and Bobo. However, I don’t expect either one to be replaced. The result will be weird play calling at times and probably poor o-line play. D will need to be stellar.
Agree with all the below comments, but what I like the most that nobody continue to blame offensive coordinator. The OC can only call the plays, and you really have to ask yourself, if the receiver room can't catch what is being thrown and the offensive line can't open holes, what plays can he call to escape the third and long? Yes, play calling has a great impact on how the ball should be moved but when you have glaring issues, it is really hard to escape the constant complaints.
Coaches for the main part are there to coach these kids up, but the coaches are not the players. OL, totally agree, it is the coach's responsibility to teach fundamentals and technique, and the OL should have been better but injuries do happen but that is why it is the coach's responsibility to have the next player ready. Personally, I feel this will be the OL's coach's make or break year, because I sense that Coach Smart is really looking at these issues as pointed out in the article.
tnt3ball, the OC is in charge of the O Line coach. If everyone can see it, why can't Bobo? Too nice, Too loyal? After getting canned at so many other schools, you would think he would figure it out. Kirby should step in, but he isn't. They want to give it another year. In the world of College football - I wouldn't.
