Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Mizzou at UGA

in Basketball
Pretty good game. We are up 41-40 at the half. We need this one. Mizzou is killing us on the offensive boards. If we can clean that up a bit we have a good chance to win.
Gotta have it! Go Dawgs!!!

Dang, Mizzou got hot in the second half. They are a pretty good team.
Dawgs give up too many easy baskets and turn the ball over too much. League is too tough for those kind of weaknesses, unfortunately. On to baseball…we are ranked #8
Dooley's legacy is that no other sport will ever outshine his football records. It's truly embarrassing that with all the talent within the state of Georgia, UGA simply refuses to figure out a way to build a championship Basketball or baseball program founded upon it.
..
Considering how it’s seems that NIL and the transfer portal has leveled the CFB field away from Kirby’s domination through elite recruiting based upon first class facilities and developing NFL talent, I propose a DawgNation grassroots campaign to divert any and all funds away from UGA’s perennial lost cause men’s basketball program to the football collective.
Kind of short sighted I think.
I guess that depends on one’s perspective. I’ve been watching UGA bball since trying to study at the library while Dominique and his buddies were cutting up pretty loudly as college kids often do.
Since then, I’ve enjoyed one single solitary Final Four, followed by what seems like more NIT invitations than to the dance with the latter few usually being first round losses, losing a very good coach to UK after only a few years who then wins a natty, short lived excitement from a HC with questionable ethics, and then promising hire after hire with basically the same initially teasing then disappointing results.
Meanwhile, I’ve watched pretty much every other SEC upper division football powerhouse have far more success on the court than UGA, including our biggest rival winning nattys. So, you’re certainly entitled to have a different perspective than mine, but, no, I wouldn’t exactly call that shortsighted.
I mean short sighted as far as Mike goes. Give him a bit more time. Taking funding away won't help him win.
Meh. It's basketball. Too monotonous and predictable. "Oh, he shoots from the Three. Its good."
So what?
Compelling watch? Not for me.
As for Georgia, they're just not good. Haven't been for a long time. They remind me of the Hawks, but much worse. Not very relevant.
I'd rather root for another team that's good and has a shot at winning.
Maybe Auburn or Kentucky.
I was listening to the game on the radio while traveling. Even the radio announcers are fed up with the lack of effort in the 2nd halves of games. You could tell it in their voices that they are so tired of the Dawgs literally just giving up when the other team gets hot. Even more galling is when they blow halftime leads at home.
I actually like Mike, but the jury remains out as to whether or not he can recruit and develop at an elite level, especially the former. UGA seems to be stuck in a perpetual catch-22 scenario in that they will never consistently compete at the highest level until they can get enough elite recruits necessary to do so, but they’ll never get enough of those recruits until they first consistently compete at the highest level. And, in fairness to him, the league right now is a beast to recruit and compete against.
I’ve just become very jaded over the years about UGA basketball, and honestly jealous of other elite SEC programs that at least occasionally have their day in the sun. So, color me pessimistic. I’ll be glad to be wrong, and then will shamelessly jump on the bandwagon. Go Dawgs!
I don’t want to see any funds diverted away from our basketball or baseball programs. In fact, I say give them more! Our football program will not suffer for it at all in my opinion bc I don’t think Kirby will allow our program to suffer for financial reasons. We aren’t the richest program, but we can keep pace with any if we need to.
