It’s not just losing but how this teams loses. Eight to ten minute droughts with zero points, less than 50% free throw shooting. Seriously? No ball movement. High double digit turnovers. Slow getting back down court to play defense. Constant missed shots in the paint. The list goes on and on. Please, let’s stop with thee NCAA tournament talk. This is not a good basketball team. Poorly coached, no discipline. I hope changes are coming at the end of this season. Go Dawgs!

    Still Alive???
Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are! Mediocre Mike will inspire and coach his team to a 1-4 finish, losing to SCAR and getting blown out by Aubie n Tex on the road after 13 minute second half, I don’t have a play that will work coaching, and choking against UF at home in the last seconds because his est play is Silas on a 1 on 4 fast break. The only winnable game left is Vandy…and here I thought 6-12 in the conference was mediocre…5-13 y’all and a NIT snub. Book it.

We are not going to the Big Dance, there will be no March Madness. Hope to make a run in the NIT and well we will call the the Spring Fling.

Exactly. Every possible phase of the game reeks of lack of coaching…I too hope we can find a solid Xs and Os HBC who demands discipline and teaches fundamentals. The talent is there.

Mike, I was wondering how you were going to sugarcoat this embarrassing home loss. Like all of the other commenters below, this team isn’t going to the big dance so stop saying it can or could. Brooks hired a coach that was runoff from our biggest rival in hopes he could have a renewed sense of direction here. Yes, there has been improvement each season, but this season is going backwards. Blown out of every road game vs ranked opponents, inexplicable losses to msu at home and Arkansas on the road, and they are a difficult team to watch. It doesn’t matter that mediocre Mike likes this team. That doesn’t win ballgames. Making free throws, playing defense, moving the ball around to get open shots, and not turning the ball over win ballgames. This team isn’t capable of doing any of that.

"The dialed-in Georgia basketball fans understand this is the best version of Bulldogs' basketball in the last 10 years…"

If you believe the above statement, this is a really sad indictment of UGA's athletic department. Basically let's all just be happy being in the bottom quarter of a 16 team conference. Best in 10 years. What an absolute joke.

Meanwhile Mike White now "wishes" his team would play better. The reality is this: dialed-in UGA Bball fans WISH our athletic director would find a coach capable of producing something better than a team that consistantly lacks focus and rolls over in the second half of games only to lose by double digits.

Personally speaking, UGA has the resources to expect way better.

Even if they make it into the bracket, who are we kidding.

What does Mike White have on you to make you write these articles?

And maybe a tornado will hit Bridgestone Arena in Nashville during Georgia’s must win 1st round SEC Tourney game causing a repeat of the 2008 outcome giving White a nine month stay of execution. Right now my money is on a 5-13 finish to the SEC regular season & a round one loss to the Sooners in Nashville. Maybe another NiT invite to add salt to our wounds!

One thing missing from the Mike's article: Georgia is playing largely sophomores and freshmen against teams made up of seniors.

To take the latest example, six of A&M's top eight players (in terms of minutes) are seniors, while two are juniors. For Mizzou, those numbers are five seniors, one junior and two sophomores. For us: Two seniors, one junior, four sophomores and two freshman.

Freshmen phenoms like Flagg get a lot of rightful attention. But most really good teams, especially in the SEC, are stocked with upperclassmen. Whether we make it to the tournament or not, this team just has a really hard time competing with older teams that have played together for three years or more.

That Missouri team was horrible last year — much worse than Georgia. But the core stuck around and this year is playing entirely better.

Newell's one-and-done. But the big questions — bigger than White's in-game coaching, IMO — are whether guys like Demary, Cain, Godfrey, Cyril and James stick it out for another year, and whether White can pick up transfers to fill the gaps. And a both those questions are largely built around the ability of Georgia's NIL collective to keep and attract good players.

Coach, if you want to see frustration, just look in the stands at Stegeman!
