I absolutely expected Everette to be gone. He certainly would have left on a high note. I think it says a lot about his confidence and his love for the team that he stayed.
Totally agree. He will be instrumental to the success of the secondary. I always enjoy and respect your comments. Hope you and family are having a great off season, and I’m sure that like me your chaffing at the bit to see G Day get here !! Go Dawgs !! P.S. We have Allot of youth on this 2025 team But they are very, very talented if they are coached up I believe Dawgs can have a very good to even great season !!
The myth of "returning production"…..The University of Georgia is unique in the respect that to be a DAWG, you've got to be very talented…given the prevailing philosophy to play/start the guys that "give The Dawgs the best chance to win", there are always "starters" on any other team, riding the bench or maybe getting snaps via a rotation. Just because the "stat rackers" have moved on to the NFL doesn't indicate a drop in production in the coming season, just an unknown with a heavy dose of "potential" expectation…..the fact that gives me an optimistic outlook is that of every potential offensive and defensive starter…….I've hears their name and know their potential…..the key for 2025 will be "coaching and player leadership"……I believe the Spring Game will erase any question…..my only concern will be "the injury bug"……"Lord keep our Dawgs Healthy!" GOOOOOO DAWGS, SICEM!
#6 is the most overrated and under performing DB I’ve ever seen at UGA and I’ve been following the Dawgs for a very long time. I’ve watched every game he’s played in at least 5 times and the number of times he’s gotten smoked, missed tackles, didn’t support the run, misread a play or just flat out loafed, is staggering. I don’t know if the media is blind or they’ve just set the bar so low for CB play, but they really need to do their homework. Just because you can stay in phase on an out route doesn’t mean you’re a good CB. It’s taken this guy 3 years to figure out how to turn his head, so he can try and make a play on the ball. Normally, he faces the WR, puts his arms up and then stumbles into him for a PI call. For the life of me I don’t know how he’s started a single game.
Clearly the most important player for UGA to retain is QB Gunner Stockton. All the eggs are in the GS basket for '25. He is IT. The season rides on his arm.
As for DEverette he was obviously UGA's "best" CB in '24. He is experienced and well coached. He is solid in his responsibilities and seems to be where he is supposed to be and makes few mistakes. That is important to play in the UGA D and on the back end of any D. With another solid season he may move up to a 3rd rd NFL draft choice. He was 3rd team All SEC. That is good, not great. His size will benefit him at the next level with big WR's. His lack of quick twitch will hurt him at the next level with smaller, quick WR's.
IF UGA can get more pass rush from the DL/OLB in'25 ALL the UGA DB's will look better.
You must be referring to his first season as a starter, which I would agree, but after the first two games this year he settled in and had a great season with minimal misses as he had previously. Coming into the year I was not happy with him being the given starter and called out every error remembering the previous season. It wasn’t till I was called out by a friend and went back and watched a couple games more objectively that I came to appreciate him and I for one am very glad he is coming back.
