I put that question to regular Blawg readers and social media followers this week. I asked what games this coming season they have circled in red. Are they particularly excited about Kirby Smart’s Dawgs hosting Alabama and Texas? (Athens hoteliers certainly are!)

I worked at the skate shop downtown during the widespread concert and it was a miserable experience. Hoards of unwashed trying to steal from us all weekend long.

The only bands listed that would get me there are REM. Add B52s as the opener and I’d pay a lot of money for that.

Thanks, Bill, for another interesting article in the heart of the Dead Zone for college football. I have no idea if this could be accomplished in our litigious society, but I would find it more agreeable if the outlay from each Power 4 school to each of it's scholarship players in regard to financial remuneration was exactly the same for every athlete. A separate NIL deal could be instituted only after the first year on scholarship with no money coming from the univeristy's financial obligations to its student athletes. This would at least provide a pretense of "team first".

Nice article Bill, covering several subjects. REM will never be the same band without Bill Berry on drums, and they'll have a very hard time getting him back to play. It would be incredible if they did though!

Minimum expectation: Dawgs make the playoffs. At this point, there are too many unanswered questions about this team - the most I've had for any Dawg's team in Kirby's tenure - for me to expect anything more. Winning one or two playoff games would just be gravy. However, uncharacteristically sloppy play and poor execution last season cost us yards, points, and victories. We can't afford that kind of performance again if we are to make those playoffs.

    Biggest games: Bama, Tennessee

As for the 25 schedule….Dominate the home games…with fanatical fan fervor, Win the away anyway you can and beware of Tech…if they can muster the same "will to win" as ND, it will be another overtime odyssey…..again

I was raised being told the Wally Butts era was the Bull Dogs golden age…if that's true Kirby and company, Josh and Jere have created the age of Triple Platinum for Bull Dawgs Athletics and it's only just started……a concert, I like Trish/Garth headlining with Aldean, Rett, Owen, Bryan, Ludacris, Brown as special guest and close with REM….and a hologram performance by James Brown/ I Got You (I Feel Good)…..

It's crazy to have a venue and not use it's to fullest potential. Between Neyland and TBA with all the concerts, UTK is making **** $$$, hence investing 300mil in Neyland and 100mil in the baseball stadium. Not to mention they're building an entertainment district on the river that will make $$$ all year long. Need to get with the times or get left behind. GATA!!!

I fully expect Kirby will have the Dawgs ready to go against the competition at hand. tejas has lost a lot off of the OL that gave UGA defense very little problems in two games in 2024. They lost receivers as well. Bama will be Bama, a tough out. Ole Miss won't be the same team. I'll say this, if the Dawgs win in Knoxville and against Bama at home, I think they are undefeated.

Tech has the record of eight straight to hang over our heads—that is absurd. We have dominated them over the decades. We don't need to win one more to TIE it—we need to OWN this record!!
