BornADawg—-You hit the nail on the head—it's not the hitting, it's the pitching!

@lucydog It was a bit of everything…. hitters 1-for-8 with runnings in scoring position in loss to Duke…. runners on second and third no outs top of ninth with 2-run lead on OSU… and can't either in

Game-tying run scored when pitcher didn't hit first with his foot covering on would-be double play that would sent game to extra innings…..then the HR ball

So timely hitting, defense and, yes, pitching … but pitching is at a premium across college baseball. Georgia improved this year, vastly, and wasn't horrible

@MikeGriffith …That’s all true Mike. That’s why I feel pitching is so important. When your hitters aren’t coming through in the clutch and runs are at a premium, good pitching will get the team through those type games. I have no doubt Wes Johnson is on the job and scouring the nation for pitchers for next season. I believe he can and will get the Diamond Dawgs to “compete with the elite.” Go Dawgs!

Wes was the touted pitcher whisperer at LSU…perhaps he needs to quit whispering and start shouting. I’d recommend he work on toning down the classless bat flipping and in your face shouting and screaming arrogance some of his players exhibited in this series. That being said, two years in it is encouraging what he is trying to build. Nice season, disappointing finish.

Disappointing how bully the small schools with a homerun blitz, but we compete against the big boys we just fold up the tent. Good direction by Wes, but he takes to take another step up.

They lost the big games almost all season, but crushed lesser competition. If I bet money, I would have said they would be one and done. Pretty good pitching isn't going to win. Takes great pitching and great hitting. In the current environment, it's hard to get those guys.
