I am with Kirby on this. Screw the April portal, that is halfway to the season opener. That also allows teams that have not done as good job at roster building/management, for whatever reason, to have a cheat code or a life raft basically, for not running their program or putting in the hard work as well as the better ones or just did a bad job and then try and come poach their players with cash instead to bail their butts out. Again, screw that!

I don’t get the transfer portal while the season is still being played . What’s to stop someone from buying off a player to leave a team in the playoffs to benefit another teams chances ?

@ColumbusDawg Kirby's portal philosophy makes sense. I almost wonder if the Big Ten wants April so its big money schools can poach of the SEC transfers — remember, the SEC doesn't allow transfers within the league in April, so it's open season

@SnakeScott13 Understand, and Kirby acknowledged that, but it's the lesser of the two evils — better than April, May or June when you've prepared an entire spring with a kid thinking he's gonna play a major role. Ask Tennessee, right?

In the name of team parity…..I'd allow the April TP but only if the TP Vagabonds enroll with a team that had a 50% or below winning record the previous year……..sorry Wolverines, Bucknuts, Lions and Ducks….. Let's all work to kill the cupcakes in the Big 1…..I mean 18.
