imageGunner Stockton shows it’s a new day at the QB position for Georgia: ‘It felt different’

Regardless of how he played, he started in Sanford Stadium for the first time in his Georgia career. For the Tiger, Georgia native, it mattered to him that he took over as Georgia’s starting quarterback.

the same thing with Stetson. Daniel’s started and was supposed to carry us to the natty and it turned out to be SB.

Gunner is a leader. Beck never actually became the leader. The team will rally around Gunner because of the intangible qualities he possesses. Another national championship is definitely a possibility given the talent on this year's team and a capable leader at QB.

He's got some pretty good tangible qualities, too....imo. Reminded me a lot, of Tim Tebow…..the way he runs. It's more like a Fullback than a Fleetfooted RB. And...he's got an arm, too.

It's still kind of hard to draw any deep conclusions based on 1 game...against Marshall, no less. But, what I saw was very encouraging. Regardless of who they played.

I noticed he likes to put zip on his short throws.…and, the receivers seemed to like it, too. They didn't drop one, that I recall. That's a plus, if everybody can handle the ball speed...but, it can turn into a minus, in inclement weather. Imo

I don't care who they played...the offensive execution was spot on for this time of year. They couldn't have done a thing more....without looking like Florida gluttons running up the score.

Lol...realistically...the Dawgs probably could've scored on every possession and shut em out...IF...that was the goal. I don't think it was. This was "practice"....a dress rehearsal...a G-Day Game....sump'n like dat. Imo

Pug looked good throwing the ball

Laughable showing by Gunner! He stares down receivers, does not see the field well, passes are behind the receivers/timing sucks, does not have a clue on when he should begin a slide to avoid being punished, and he throws a low velocity rainbow or a ball in the dirt, and many of this passes are batted down or deflected. His decision making is horrible. He missed many open receivers, refusing to throw to wide open receivers running free downfield, opting for the 10 yards or less safety valves. SEC caliber linemen are going to eat him for lunch and linebackers are going to confuse him all day. Give the ball to Pug now so that by Game 4 he has the same amount of "experience that Gunner has, which isn't much.

@BigDawg61 UGA scored more points in the second half than Florida did. Florida just put up 24 in the second quarter where UGA - as Dawgnation admitted - went stagnant and only put up 10. And claiming "they couldn't have done a thing more" when Stockton was clearly the most effective rusher in the game, there was a dearth of long runs again (only one more than 20 yards, and it only went 21), only 1 WR reached 30 yards receiving and there was absolutely no vertical passing game as the only big passing play came from a screen that the WR turned into a big gain (which again Dawgnation acknowledged) is a choice.

It is good to be a fan, but facts are still facts.

@CHDawg54 So Gunner Stockton was a leader against a lower mid major Marshall squad that rebuilt their whole team in the offseason but not against a Notre Dame team that had future NFL players at every level of their defense? Gotcha.

I don't think you understood the point I was trying to make. But, suddenly realized...I don't care. Lol....you'll get it, one day.

The Dawgs will play like Champions when it matters….as usual. Tennessee's first on the menu...after a couple of appetizers. The Alpha Dawgs [1's & 2's] should be ravenous by then.

Imo....The main thing, going into this long season, is to preserve the health of your skill players with a strong rotation. Meaning little to no drop-off from personnel package to package.

The individual experience level & confidence of each player will grow with each game. And, I would argue, that UGA has the "Talent" and personnel to put together two separate teams by the end of the year.

The experience level, team health and team chemistry are more important right now, than putting up a gazillion points or yards or whatever your Statistic-of-choice.

Imo......Kirby knows what he's doing. The guys did what they were asked.…and some. How can you complain. Lol...today's game makes navigating a season, more like chess than the checker game it once was.
