Georgia schedule looks tougher than ever, most future foes have fast starts

ATHENS â Georgia coach Kirby Smart was clear in acknowledging his team has areas to improve, as impressive as the 45-7 win over Marshall looked on the scoreboard.

GT is playing to beat Georgia. 😂
Well-written and well-researched! Great article!
Thanks, Mike! …… the season game plan laid out for Coach Kirby!
Go Dawgs! Hate on E’rrbody!
Was hoping TX and AL first loss would be against GA. Guess I will have to settle for giving them theri 2nd losses of the eason now.
Yesterday showed me how quickly teams can improve (or decline) from one season to the next by getting the right guys (or wrong ones) from the portal. Aguilar appears to be a much better QB option for the Vols than Nico ever was. Ty Simpson ain't going to cut it at Bama if they want to truly have a winning season. Onio State looks tough as usual, and just as I suspected, Manning was overhyped. He made a few impressive throws, but otherwise he looked pedestrian. He should improve though, because he's got the talent. Sark just can't get over the hump (or get in the end zone), and the Longhorns will be licking their wounds trying to figure out how they let another game slip away. And Auburn will be a much tougher game for the Dawgs. LSU looks much improved from last season, bringing back an experienced Nussmeier and improving their defense.
Loved what I saw from the Dawgs yesterday. Phillips is going to be key to our running game. Frazier was solid. Surprised we didn’t see much of Rod Robinson. Branch is awesome! Bolden is as good as we expected. Stockton played pretty well but will definitely have to up his game against better competition. And Pug shocked me in the best way!
Great breakdown @MikeGriffith The game that concerns me the most is UT in Knoxville. Aguilar looked strong and like has been said, he appears to be a better fit for this offense than Mr. Imaleaving who always seemed to try to do too much.
I believe it will all depend on the run game for UGA. No genius statement I know but if the O line can’t improve, the run game may be a big challenge.
Dawgs definitely have the weapons with receivers, RBs, TEs, special teams, and all over the defense - just need to put it all together. Great start and now on to week 2. Go DAWGS!
Alabama and Texas losing was great, but I think that makes them more dangerous when they come to Athens, knowing it will be some sort of ‘must win’ for them and they will give the Dawgs their best.
Thanks Mike. Good recap. As I commented earlier in the week, I was worried about road games at TN and Auburn. After this weekend, I’m more worried. TN has improved at QB. Auburn has vastly improved at QB. Our history against running QBs is less than stellar. Haynes King looked very good at Baylor.
Gunner looked very good running the ball against an outmanned Marshall. His passing must improve, as must our pass pro. Phillips looked like our best RB. His speed is impressive. O-line needs to improve. Not sure how good D-line will be. Our receivers seemed to struggle getting open - against Marshall!
We have a bunch to work on. Better get to work.
Go Dawgs!
Syracuse had a new qb and at other important positions. It was a similar to what Georgia played yesterday. However, tenn gave up 26 points to them. Syracuse defense definitely isn’t on Georgia’s level.
Arch who? That manning name doesn’t guarantee success. That hype was and is ridiculous. The hype on bama was just as bad. Funny how finebaum wanted their coach fired after their bowl game but declared them a guaranteed playoff team this season. This ain’t the pac-12.
king will get hurt if tech keeps running him like that.
fla played a nobody. The team albarn played is overrated. Kentucky only beat their team by 8.
As far as our Dawgs, we won’t find out much more next week, but we definitely will in week 3. Georgia played very vanilla like a G-Day game yesterday. Kirby isn’t going to show a lot vs these smaller level teams.
Go Dawgs!
And UGA...is "playing" to beat Everybody! Lol....that's the difference between UGA and GT. But, yall keep tryin' ya h'year. Lol
@MikeGriffith ....this is the best season breakdown I think I've ever seen. Great job!
It would be awesome...if you could do a weekly update...just like this. Follow the progress of each team. Interesting concept. Heck...maybe even create a graph or something to display on the web page.
Incidentally....I told yall, last year...Bama's done! Deboer has succeeded in creating the perfect West Coast Team, in the Southeastern Conference. Bravo! Lol.
Smallish linemen won't last in this league...and that's what they have...imo. But, theyake up for it, by being ""West Coast Slow".
I'm not even sure at this point...that Bama will win 7 games with that defense. I'm just sayin'.…South Carolina, Tennessee & Ole Miss...all, looked pretty sharp for game 1. Ya gotta have a DEFENSE in the SEC.
Somebody needs to explain what constitutes a "catch"...to the enforcer of rules (i.e., referees)...or to the Fans and former players doing the announcing. Whichever is appropriate. They.…We...seem confused this year for some reason.
I've seen 2 TD's waved off in 2 days...that should NOT have been. This is a new twist with the application of rules...imo.
Maybe, that's one of the new ways they have to control the outcome of a game. I'm tellin' ya.…THERE IS CHEATING IN CFB....like never before. We need Investigative Reporters to probe that angle. If there are any left...that don't owe their livelihood to corruption or the perpetrators of the corruption.
In any case...the Dawgs seem to be the only team capable of outplaying the opposition...And, the Referee's. Lol....like they did, in 2022.
GO DAWGS!!!
Ole Miss is playing very well under Kiffin, I think that is going to be a war. Florida is going to be a war as well if Lagway is not injured. Auburn played an awful Baylor team that continually left the middle of the field open and Arnold ran down the open field. This will not happen against the better SEC defenses. Right now Ole Miss and Florida are my two biggest worries.
I agree, with respect to Florida and Ole Miss. However.....Bama, Texas, GT & Tennessee won't be pushovers either....regardless of how they "looked" yesterday.…imo. Lol.…and, who knows?, with Miss St and Auburn. Anything can happen in the SEC.
Lol....I hate sounding like a darned advertisement for the SEC....but, it's the Truth. What're ya gonna do?. I think the picture is far from coming into focus, at this point in the season.
But, one thing rings true, to me. UGA has the most talented and complete team.…from top to bottom and sideways....they've ever had.....Including '21 & '22.
If this 2025 Team, isn't a Championship Team....I'll eat my UGA Hat at the end of the season, on College GameDay. Lolol...obviously, I'm not worried.
ummm I’m a dawg man since 1980.. just making a statement so how did you miss that, it’s a dawg forum
Didn't say you weren't Bro. Just pointing out what Kirby said, back in '21.
When reporters asked him if the Dawgs had been preparing for Clemson…..He replied, "We don't practice to beat somebody..…We practice to beat Everybody." Lol...or, something to that effect.
I thought it was a pretty Smart thing to say....so, I've had it loaded up in my holster, ready to use, since then. When I saw your post….i thought it would be funny and you might appreciate what I was trying to say.
Didn't mean any disrespect. Go Dawgs!!! Fyi...I'm a fan since '70. That's the first year I can remember Dad talking about em, cause he went to the UGA -FLA Game that year and the Dawgs upset em [not sure about the year...'69/'70/'71 ?]. Lol...before that...I was a baseball man. Or boy, rather. Lol
