Mark Richt: Georgia-Alabama matches SEC monsters in game of manhood

College Football Playoff implications and SEC supremacy will be on the line at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday when the teams meet at Sanford Stadium, UGA bringing a school-record 33-game home win streak into the matchup.

It was Richt’s second-straight win over Shula. In 2002, Musa Smith pounded Alabama for 126 yards rushing in Tuscaloosa and Billy Bennett kicked a 32-yard field goal with 38 seconds left to lift the Bulldogs to the 27-25 win en route to a 13-1 season capped by a 26-13 Sugar Bowl win over Florida State.
Was this the game where Pat Daye didn't think we were man enough to go into Tuscaloosa and win? or was it 2007?
Either way, that 2002 game and season was one of the best….My oldest daughter's first year at Georgia where she "finally, got it Dad" as to what being a Dawg fan was all about. ….The first SEC championship in 20 years with a defeat of Arkansas in the SECCG…… and the second year in a row that we beat UTjr after the nine year drought!……One year after the "Hobnail boot" game and the first and only time the fans rushed the field after a Dawg victory!!
Great times! Great memories!
It’s always great to hear from Coach Richt. He might not have reached the highest heights that we hoped for but he was a Very solid HC with a pretty good record. He Loves Georgia and IS beloved by countless Dawgs fans including Me. I hope his health is at the very best possible considering the circumstances. He will always be a DGD in my book.
Well said "navydawg". Coach Richt had some great years at UGA and ended up with a pretty darn good record. He is a fine person and truly loves UGA. Glad to call him a DGD.
100% a DGD. I might ruffle some feathers here... but look what Richt did as HC/OC at UGA in his 1st 5 years. 2 sec championships, once he brought in a certain someone... Richts offense could no longer win "the big ones". That certain someone will get another shot in 3 days, hopefully he can put it altogether and the players can execute it. Excited, scared and nervous for this one... like every Bama game 😂
