Nice to know we can still beat Kentucky by the spread.

Thinking about last week's game still. Still mad about it. So, a while back, Georgia had the record for consecutive wins against SEC teams. Bama broke the streak with a win against the dawgs. Last week, Georgia had the streak for home wins in a row. Bama ended that. Thank God we didn't have to play Bama again this week or they would have broken our streak of no back to back losses since 2018. Hopefully, Vandy can do today what Georgia could not. They did last year.

I appreciate the win, but this team has a long way to go. The secondary and linebackers are a problem. They cannot cover anyone. Now the OLine is hurt again. Going to Auburn is going to be a big problem.

Vandy defense is a probably better than Georgia defense.

Not to bring up last week, but can UGA hire vandys DC? They looked alot better against bama in the 1st qtr.

ALL first year starting QBs have their struggles ( See very Heisman Hyped Manning). It’s no different for Gunner. NOT bashing on Beck just stating a Fact in His first year as starter Dawgs beat KY 14-13 now I Will say very quickly that was at Their house which does make a difference.

The ND game in my mind doesn’t count really as Gunner’s first Year as starter he was thrown into that by Beck’s injury. Actually he’s YET to be named This years starter which must be at least a little embarrassing and restating. But he has soldiered on.

Gunner has had much DESERVED Criticism for not seeing open receivers. When it’s deserved I have NO problem with people calling him on it.

BUT if we are going to issue Deserved Criticism I feel it’s only Fair to Also issue Deserved Appreciation. Gunner has picked up numerous 1st downs with his Feet. I’ll have to look but after today he’s had quite a few TDs. Those scores Count to Win games !! Those 1st downs Count to gain yardage.
I got in the game on TV really late today as we had company and it was a business meeting. If I understand correctly he threw a INT today. IF that’s correct that’s his First on the season after 5 games. He’s had One s t r I p sack vs TN that Any Reasonable fan ought to call on the O Line as they let the defenders slip by. It was almost directly in his back the young man doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head so I believe ANY QB on That play would have suffered the Same fate.

So in my view he deserves credit for Protecting the ball to.

Some fans are concerned about the mostly short throws he makes. Well swing passed and screens are not usually very vertical in nature. They rely on the WR or RB as the case may be to pick up YAC. Bobo calls a Multitude of those So Gunner doesn’t get that many Opportunities to Throw deep passes.

He HAS made some of the deep throws. He made one that I saw today.

Players, several have remarked how adept he is in HOW he hands the ball off keeping the rival defense wondering Who really has the ball ? So he deserves credit for that to.

He’s fearless in that he’ll lower his shoulder and take on bigger defenders than him to pick up yards.

After all this is Gunner Elite ? NO. He’s not. But he’s pretty good and I believe growing.

If there were some way I could go back to the archives of comments here BOTH Beck and Stetson received Plenty of criticism in THEIR first year as starter. It takes TIME playing Real games for these guys to Really grow. NOT just the “ Well he’s been in the system” stuff. Puglisi has HUGE potential !! But he’s gonna need TIME in Real games for Real growth.

I’m Not a prophet and I don’t have a crystal ball and Even if I did the Only prophets I believe in are Biblical. Gunner might fall completely apart for all I know, as the season goes on. I don’t know, really You don’t know though you can speculate, We don’t know. Time will tell the story.

To the best of my knowledge this is the first year that KS hasn’t officially named the starting QB. But I’ve not heard ANY indication that Gunner has complained about it !!

So to close if the Criticism is legitimate Keeping In Mind this is his first year and we’re 5 games in. Then issue it. But how’s about issuing a smidgen of appreciation to. Losing to Bama hurt us ALL. But that was a TEAM loss. Gunner might’ve been able to contribute better and thus secure a W. But he didn’t lose that game mainly on him. With respect to Beck he lost to Bama twice. Stetson lost to them once. They have been an enigma thus far for Kirby regardless of who the QB is. The defense rests its case.

    P. S. I have much respect And appreciation for Stetson, Carson, Gunner, and Ryan. I hold no malice or harsh criticism of Any of them !!

From a teaching/coaching standpoint, this was basically the best of both worlds. A 21 point conference win, with a blowout loss' worth of moments that would have gotten them burned against a good or even decent opponent. An absolute abundance of teachable moments coming out of this one.

On a more concerning note, I worry that one of the main problems with the defense might not be teachable. Has anyone else noticed that the players seem visibly unsure of themselves? In years past, when Georgia had a defense that everyone feared, there were no wasted movements, as the expression goes. It was see ball, attack ball. Now, all too often, it seems like whenever a defender is in position to make the tackle and end the play, rather than striking with authority, there's this "pull up" posture - getting upright, arms out to the side, short choppy steps. I don't know if it's coaching or lack of player leadership, but the unit seems rudderless.

Like I said in my earlier To Lengthy comment I missed a Big chunk of the first half due to business company. But it appears the O Line performed much better today even though they were patched together. So I tip my cap to them they deserve credit.

Also Bobo appears to have called a pretty effective game plan so I tip my cap to him as well.

There were some break downs but All in All the starting Defense played pretty well so I’ll give them a tempered tip of the hat. When the second and third string defense came in it was a mixed bag of pretty good and pretty bad.

I Think correct me if I’m wrong the Dawgs squeaked out covering the points spread for the first time today. Again please correct me if I’m wrong.

Now time to gird our loins Lol for Auburn !! Go Dawgs !!

Great eyes on your part !! Yes they seem to be playing more tentatively as compared to the past. Make the move Fast !! If you get burned learn from it and move on !! I’d rather get burned Trying than I had playing it safe !!

“ATHENS — Everything that seemed to fail against Alabama, succeeded for Georgia when it played Kentucky on Saturday.”

I totally disagree with this statement. Georgia could have and should have won that game. The defense needs a lot of work but offense is coming around

I know this team is young but the running game can be a big advantage if Bobo would use it more

Vandy battling Bama hard first half. Penn St. dropping like a rock to UCLA. And UF pummeling TX right now.

Never apologize for a win so I’ll celebrate. Still lots that needs improvement and most of it centers around the basics of knowing the role and executing that role when called upon. O line remains a muddled situation with no one able to stay healthy or to execute consistently as a unit. The defense is the most baffling. With all the talent out there, the results don’t quite match the paper description of talent.

Really glad to see Stockton use the middle of the field and really hope that remains a focus. Those slants are so hard to stop and they result in great YAC. Either change our use of screen plays or to at least watch how our opponents set theirs up and just copy them. They seem to have it figured out more than the DAWGS.

Don’t know I would call the sack by Ogboko as garbage time. I know I’m being picky but Kentucky had their starters still in the game so it was a sack against the first team offense. A great play and happy to see that.
Now on to the ugliest village to whip some kitty cats. Go DAWGS!

Oh Yes very much agree !! Dawgs have a powerful run game !! Heck keep rotating different ones in and out !! Bowens, Frazier, McCray, Phillips when he gets back, even use Walker. Sprinkle in a few passes including an occasional deep shot to keep the rival defense honest and ram the ball down their throats with the run !! Oh and passes to Cash Jones in the backfield as well !!
