A&M still at #3, no way I'd have Indiana, possibly not even osu ahead of aTm. Osu has played 1 or 2 decent teams this year. While IU has played a cakewalk schedule, and it took a last minute miracle catch to beat a below average Penn st team last week for iu , while aTm beat yet ANOTHER ranked team. So, the committee has spoken, and spoken loudly. Strength of schedule, or quality wins against ranked opponents mean absolutely nothing in our metrics for playoff seedings.
Miami would be seeded ahead of GT for the 11 seed
Cupcake schedule? P think all 3 tams have played gifted schedules…aTm has played against the 16th place, 14th place, 13th place, 11th place, 10th place and 9th place teams in the Conference and are about to take on the 15th place SEC team this weekend. They will not have played a single team in the top 7 of the SEC until they play Texas the last game of the year…think about that for a moment before you go cakewalk dissing on Bucknut and HoozU too much about lack of SOS…if I were the committee I would have Bama at 1 and UGa at 2 based on SOS but wins also matter.
Sp ck…I think all 3 have played gifted schedules…I need a bigger screen!
Yep. They took metric and “tweaked it,” … to favor a conference that has a bit more TV buy-in…
“Yet because the four teams ranked ahead of Georgia all also run, the Bulldogs yet again find themselves ranked No. 5…”
Do you ever proofread?
Don't worry....the cream always rises….no matter how hard they try to push it down. Lol.
UGA will continue improving & winning, while the Committee struggles to justify the outcome in December, versus the input in November. If they even try, that is. Lol...the final poll could be a shocker, if expectations are based on the current polling. Imo
The Dawgs won't get left out this time...and, they're comin' healthy and deep. So....it really don't matter who they have to play. Uga will be living the "life of Riley" from here on out.
Go Dawgs!
Makes no sense to put out a schedule. Heck we could lose two more game, bama could lose ect ect. So if bama and Tex am play in the championship game will the loser drop down? Same as ind and osu
The G The Greek metric….each week add the ranking of the teams beat and divide by the number of teams added….ie #1 TOS has played and beat one ranked team, Texas, #10 so their average is 10, TAM average 12.1, Bama, 13, Dawgs, 13.5, Hoozer, 14.5…..and so forth so at present it's TOS, TAM, Bama, Dawgs, Hoozers….
####NOTE, past the first 5 my metric need tweekin….as Ole Miss came in at 11 but lost to #5 TT came ia at 13.5….no way they're as good as the DAWGS!
Actually the #5 spot is pretty sweet as it sits right now. A home playoff game and opening round against the Group of 5 leader. Then a re-match with Kirby's nemesis, Bama.
But first we gotta take care of business.
Texas Tech is legit on defense - maybe the best in the country outside the Buckeyes. But their offense can't score TDs.
@1SICemDAWGS1....you know, I had been agreeing with you mostly, but a closer look at the Aggies and the Hoosiers makes me think the Committee has it right as it stands today. That will probably change.
The Hoosiers are ranked above the Aggies in pretty much every power rating. And they’re ranked higher statistically on both sides of the ball — Indiana has the No. 10 offense and No. 13 defense in yards per play; A&M is No. 19 and No. 39, respectively.
Their resumes are fairly similar, but even there, I’d give IU a slight edge. Its three best wins are 30-20 at No. 8 Oregon, 20-15 at No. 21 Iowa and 63-10 at home over 6-3, unranked Illinois. The Aggies won 41-40 at No. 9 Notre Dame, 38-17 at 6-3 and now-unranked Missouri (with its third-string QB) and 49-25 at 5-4 LSU.
The Aggies’ eight league opponents currently have a combined conference record of 13-34. That includes Texas, who they haven’t played yet. Their six foes to date are a combined 8-27. Indiana’s conference foes to date are slightly more respectable at 16-26, but the Hoosiers’ slate will end up looking much like A&M’s because they finish against 1-5 Wisconsin and 0-7 Purdue.
And as much as I like A&M, they haven't dominated their opponents like you'd expect from a team that's supposed to be the best the SEC has to offer and a #1 or 2 ranking.
Absolutely NOT. Error in a title earlier this week. Not a part of journalism these days.
Still a tougher SOS for A&M at 15th..21st SOS with remaining games on the schedule..osu,iu 33rd, 41st..and stands at 26th and 31st respectively in SOS with remaining games on the schedule.
Regardless,A&M still has a higher power ranking than both osu, and iu. And a tougher SOS also..i agree, both Alabama, and the DAWGS have much tougher schedules, and should be ranked higher but are ranked 4th and 5th in the power index.. So, as I said..SOS means absolutely nothing to the committee for seedings.
